暖かさと心地よさを求める新生児の本能は非常に強いので、それを止めようとする試みに逆らうだけでなく、逆にそれによって強められる。 ですから暖かさや心地よさを求める新生児の試みを阻止しようとすると、かえって、暖かさや心地よさを求める力が強くなる、ということでしょう。

あるいは by it の it は attempts to frustrate it の to frustrate it の部分でしょうか。 「それをくじかせること」 もっとも、attempts to 原形という形容詞的用法の不定詞の一部を勝手に取り出して 名詞的用法などとはできません。 そもそも、to 不定詞で「～すること」というのは日本語的発想です。 正直、なんとなく「それ」「それ」で勝手に理解してくれ、 というような英文になっています。

resist は素直に「～に抵抗する」でしょう。 後は、it の意味するところだけです。 it ... resists attempts to frustrate it it は the instinct ... でしょうか。 温かさへの本能は、それをくじかせようとする試みに抵抗する（だけでなく） frustrate の後の it は instinct 自体か、（複数ですが）newborn creatures か。 どちらにしても、言いたいことは理解できると思います。 but の後に主語がないので、共通、すなわち、主語は結局「本能」 is strengthened by it という受身で、by の後の it が newborn creatures ではおかしく、 やはり instinct 自体？ それは文法的にも、逆説的、という内容とも合わないので、 attempts to ... としか考えられません、これも複数ですが。 それをくじさせようとする試みによって、強められもする。 by them とすべきところが、attempts to frustrate it という流れの中、 つい it にしてしまったように思います。 あるいは「そういう試みに抵抗すること」のつもりか。 とてもひとりよがりな書き手ですね。
