- to have been a surpriseはto be a surpriseではだめなのですか？文法的におかしいですか？
- because he has to attend a conferenceの部分はなぜ現在形（現在完了ですが）なのですか？he will attendじゃないかと思ったのですが。
- may not have been completedはmay not be compleredでいいのではないかと思ったのですが、文法的におかしいですか？

いつもお世話になります。 下記の英文の文法で理解できないところがあります。 どなたか教えていただけると大変助かります。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。 英文はとある参考書にあった例文です。 １．Tom shouldn't have told Lita about her birthday party because it was supposed to have been a surprise. → to have been a surprise は to be a surprise ではだめなのですか？ 文法的におかしいですか？ ２．The principal will be absent next week because he has to attend a conference. → because he has to attend a conference の部分はなぜ現在形（現在完了ですが）なのですか？he will attend じゃないかと思ったのですが。 ３．The repairs on my car may not have been completed if i go to the dealer before 3 o'clock tomorrow. →may not have been completedはmay not be complered でいいのではないかと思ったのですが、文法的におかしいですか？ 以上です。

> Tom shouldn't have told Lita about her birthday party because it was supposed to have been a surprise. この文での shouldn't have ... は過去完了形のように思えます。過去の事柄に関して、「・・・ すべきでなかった」 と言っている文。 it was supposed to have been ... も過去完了形だと思えます。これは shouldn't have ... と時制を合わせているといえます。 どちらも、過去のある瞬間のことを述べているわけですが、その瞬間にいたるまでの時間の経過を意識している文でもあります。 shouldn't have told Lita は、「いざ」 という時が来るまではリタに告げるべきではなかったということを表していて、it was supposed to have been a surprise は、その 「いざ」 という時点に至るまでは秘密にしておくべきであった事が、過去のある時点でおじゃんになってしまいましたから、その おじゃんになった 時点で秘密にしているという状態は 「完了」 したことになります。 緊張した時間の流れが、過去のある時点で断ち切られたのです。そういう断絶感のようなものが、完了形を用いることで表現されています。 しかし、to be a surprise であっても間違いとはいえないと思います。ただ、バレてしまってはもはや a surprise とはいえないものになっています。バレる直前までは a surprise であったのです。ですから、どちらかというと完了形にする方がより自然なのではないか、と考えます。 > The principal will be absent next week because he has to attend a conference. he has to attend ... でもいいじゃないかという理屈は分かります。ただ、簡単にいうと、「・・・ しなければならない」 というのは、現在よりも後のことを述べる場合に用いられる表現です。つまり、have to ... という表現には、その動作・行為が、未来の時制において実現されるという前提があります。 そこで、英語ではそのような場合には、わざわざ未来形を用いないですますのだ、と理解すればいいのではないでしょうか。 > The repairs on my car may not have been completed if i go to the dealer before 3 o'clock tomorrow. これも 1. の文と通じる面があるように感じます。私が明日クルマのディーラーのところに行った時点では、まだ修理が 「完了している状態」 にないかもしれない、ということを述べた文で、「既に修理がすんでいる」 というニュアンスを出すために完了形が用いられています。 may not be completed でも間違いではないかもしれません。ただ、before 3 o'clock tomorrow というふうに具体的な時間の提示があります。未来のある時点が明確に示されています。話し手は、その時点において 「すでに」 修理が済んでいるかどうかということに焦点を合わせた発言をしています。未来のある時点より前に完了しているか、それとも完了していないかという問題です。そのニュアンスを出すには完了形を用いるのが最適な表現だと思います。

１．→ to have been a surprise は to be a surprise ではだめなのですか？ 全体が過去完了の文型の中に 「to be a surprise」 とすれば時勢の一致をなさなくなりますので良くないと思います。 ２．→ because he has to attend a conference の部分はなぜ現在形（現在完了ですが）なのですか？he will attend じゃないかと思ったのですが。 この文の has to は must の意味のもので because he must attend a conference とほぼ同等の意味になります。 will には ある程度、その人の 自由意志が入ってきますが must には選択の余地がなく、参加せざるを得ないという意味があるので全く違ったものですね。 ３．→may not have been completedはmay not be complered でいいのではないかと思ったのですが。。。 これは「仮定の用法」 である為に、原文の通りに使用しないとおかしくなります（間違いになります）。

こんにちは、次の英文の構文とそれに使われている文法が分かる方がいれば教えて頂けないでしょうか？ 英文：Failure to file the certificate in due time shall lead to the document being deemed not to have been received. 私は、「the document being deemed not to have been received」の部分が主語の部分である「Failure to file the certificate in due time 」を説明しているように感じるので基本構文は「SVC」かなと思いますが、「SVO」でしょうか？ また「the document being deemed not to have been received」の「being」の部分に何の文法が使われているのわ分からなくて、知っている方がいれば教えていただけないでしょうか？「be deemed」は「～と思われる」という意味らしいですが、「being deemed」は分詞でしょうか？でも分詞だとすると動詞の部分はどこになるのでしょうか？「the document being deemed not to have been received」は節になっていると思うので主語と動詞は必要だと思っているのですが、なぜ「be」ではなくて「being」なのか分かりません。
