aとmy（所有格）が同じ名詞を修飾するとき 以下のような文はまちがいです。 He is a my new freind. 彼は新しい私の友だちです。 どう見ても見慣れませんよね。 上記は間違いです。 では、どうなると正しいかというと、 He is a new friend of mine. となります。 of mineがポイントです。 というわけで、bridegroom'sとなるワケが 推察できたでしょうか？ mine 同様、bridegroom'sは所有格なのです。 bridegroom'sは、「新郎の」、ではなく、 「新郎のもの」という所有格なのです。 ＞You are an old friend of the bridegroom's この文章はanとtheが入り混じっているためにこういう言い回ししているんでしょうね。 You are an old bridegroom's friend. というのも合っていると思います（→確かめていないので確実ではありません）
