英語 群前置詞の問題
【 】respect to these letters, the best thing is to burn them. (1)with(2)without (2)は不正解らしいのですがそれは何故でしょうか？ 要らない手紙の事を言っているのですから without respect to these letters(こんな手紙に構わず)でも良いと思うのですが...

with respect to ～のrespectは、「敬意」と言う意味はなくて、全体で「～について」ぐらいの意味です。 ただし、英語ネイティブがシャレでwithoutを使うことはありえると思いますね。 こういう問題を出題してはいけないでしょう。

以下文の前置詞withについて使い方を教えてください。 犬や猫などではない変わった動物をペットにしている人の記事です。 Rush weaves in and aroud her exotic pets with ease and cheerfulness and Cheerios, doling them out to the lemurs. Cheeriosはアメリカのシリアルのブランドだそうです。 この文のwith ease and cheerfulness and Cheeriosの箇所なんですが、これはwith ease and cheerfulnessとwith Cheeriosを合わせたものだと思うのですが、前者はいわゆるwith + 名詞でeasilyやcheerfullyと同様の意味を表し、後者は単に「～を持って」くらいの意味だと思います。ここで質問なんですがこのような同じ前置詞でも機能が異なるものを同時に使う事は決して強引なものではなくよく見られるものなんですか？英語を母語とする人にとっては同じwithで機能がどうこうと言うのは意味ないですか？
