＃１です。補足です。 ＞＞日本人がよく言う、「面白い子だねー」とは違うのでしょうか？ 最大の努力を傾注しても「可愛い」と言えない時の外交辞令が「面白い子だねー」だとすれば、そこまでは厳しくないような気がします。
