(be) 形容詞 to 原形 という表現はいつでも使えるものではありません。 風が強い，それほど強い，強くない。 The wind was not so strong ここまではいい。 ここで，ただ to prevent ～がきて，「妨げるのに」 という表現ができないのです。 be glad to のような感情を表して「～してうれしい」 be wise to のような判断の根拠，「～するなんて賢い」 be difficult to のように「～するのに難しい」「しにくい」 こういう風な場合はよくても，「～するには強い」などという場合は enough to とか，so ～ as to のような表現をからめて， 「～するだけの，するほどの」という意味にしないといけないのです。

並び替えの問題で分からない問題があります。 一応自分でもやってみましたが、答えに自信がないので解答をお願いします。 1. 「実際に犬がその病気にかかるのは10％にもなるが、死ぬ犬はほとんどいない。」 (10%/although/as/as/many/of/the dogs/will) actually develop the desease, very few will die. 私の答え → Although 10% as many of the dogs as will 2. 「その穴は人が通り抜けられるほど大きくはなかった。」 The hole (a man/was/large/for/to/enough/not) get through. 私の答え → was not large for a man enough to 宜しくお願いします。
