strong windに 「ｔｈｅ」はつかないのでしょうか？
なぜ rainには「ｔｈｅ」がつき、strong windには、つかないのでしょうか？ The ball game was called off at the Marine Stadium not because of the rain but because of strong wind.

雨だからとか風だからとかではなくて、文脈次第ではないでしょうか。 その文よりも前に、雨についてなんらかの形で触れられていませんか？ たとえば 「(試合の途中で雨が降り出したんだけど、) 中断されたのは（その）雨のせいじゃなくて、強風のせい」 という文脈であれば、 rainについては「さっき言ったあの」雨、という意識でtheがつくし windは初出なので別にtheはつかない、 というのは自然なことのように思えます。

こんにちは。 筆者の気まぐれだと思います。 雨でコールドゲームになったことの表し方は、because of rain と because of the rain の両方があります。 ただし、（質問者様もご存知とは思いますが）この文より前の文章で雨の話題が既出であれば、（当然）the をつけます。

よく眠れるためのハウツーもので何度も「wind-down」が出てきます。各章とも前半が睡眠についての知識、後半が眠れるための方法になっています。その後半の方法を実践する部分で、たとえば以下のような文中に出てきます。 ・At the end of every episode, I'll guide you through wind-down techniques that you can return to again and again to help you get to sleep. ・The wind-down at the end of the episode will be your first step towards a new attitude on sleep that I hope you can return to when you need it. 「くつろぐ」という意味が辞書に出てきたのですが、しっくりきません。どのような訳にすればいいか、教えていただけないでしょうか。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
