記事を参照しました。全部は読んでないのですが，culturomicsという言葉に対する質問に回答した内容です。このculturomicsというのは造語で，culture+omicsという構造です。 さて，-omicsはどこから来たのかが問題だと話しています。 Genomicsという言葉の語尾をとったものだと説明しています。 次にGenomicsという学問は，こういうものだと説明しています。 そのため，culturomicsというのは，(genomicsがgenomeに関しての多くの情報をcrunchしてgenomics学と呼ばれることをするのと同様に)cultureのhistoryに関する多くの情報をcrunchして，(genomicsと)同様のresearch techniquesをculturomicsに使える，と回答しています。(補足すると，-omicsという語尾を用いた理由はgenomicsと同じようなことをculturomicsでやるからです，ということ) [日本語訳はあえてつけませんでした。造語の過程もわかると思いましたので。もともと多くのアメリカ人もculturomicsという言葉をよく理解できていなく，confusedしているようです。] 文法的な部分ですが， forは単に「～のため」でいいと思います。 The idea hereは「ここでの考え方は」ということで，culturomicsを参照しています。’here is’ ではないです。 for what ～についてですが，what they call culturomics で「culturomicsと呼んでいるもの」という名詞句です。(what's called genomicsと同じです。) couldについてややひっかかる気持ちはわかります。単に程度問題の意味合いでいいと思います。Canを使っていないことからもかなり大ざっぱにぼかして話しているのが理解できると思います。(「genomicsをそのまま適用できるんじゃないだろうか」ぐらいでしょうか) そしてこの文は会話なのであって，新聞などの文章とは違うということがわかればもともときちんとした文ではないというニュアンスもわかると思います。 Crunchという言葉もかなりmetaphorですよね。

So while denunciations are useful, they need to be backed up by actions," (1)全体の意味がわかりません。。。 省略しますが最初のdenunciation is positiveが特にわからないです。。 「その地区の政府による様々な危険の非難は…明らかです？」 その後のif continued over timeは「長い時間続けたら」くらいの意味だと思うのですがcouldなどもないと変に見えますしdenunciation is positiveがイメージできないです。。。 those denunciations help create a climate whereby violence is not a political toolもわからないのですが「これらの非難は危険は政治的道具ないという風潮を生み出すのを助ける？」危険は『危険な行為』なのかもしれませんがそれでも意味がわからないです。。。 お願いします。。
