more so than for　とは

more than は～より大きい、～以上のもの　　 といった意味があるのはわかりますが その間に so が入ることによって どういった意味になるのでしょうか？ 「とても」といった表現になるのでしょうか？ 以下の文章を参考にしました。 people reliably overestimate the physical size of valuable coins, more so than for coins of lower value. 人々は金額の高い硬貨の大きさを、金額の低い硬貨の場合よりも、実際の大きさより課題に評価する傾向があることをかなりの信頼性をもって示した。

ここでは so が代動詞/代名詞的に使われています。 この so は "overestimate the physical size of valuable coins"を指しています
