onが付くのはなぜですか？
He just sleeps on in the park. なぜonがつくのですか？ onがあったら眠り込む なかったら寝るって感じですか？

皆さんがおっしゃっているように、寝続けるという意味ですね。 うちの犬は英語しか分かりませんが、散歩中、しっこをさせるときに、私はGO ONと言っています。犬がしっこをするときに、微妙にためらうので、愛犬に、止まらずにつづけてしっこしなさいという意味でONをつけています。

回答No1の言うような，続ける，という意味がありますが， この文では，just もあることに注意しましょう。 ただただ，眠り続ける，という感じ。 質問者の言う，眠りこむ，の捕らえ方で良いでしょう。 逆に，on が無くて， He just sleeps in the park. 寝るだけ，って言う感じですね。 食べたから，あるいは，仕事終わったから，さあ寝るか，って感じ。 on が付いたことによって，そんな状態から，深い眠りへ，という感じが出てます。 on を強く長めに読むと感じが出ます。

I have been in a relationship for four years. My partner has fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. When we met, he had just found out. He was still active, working, and we had sex regularly. Fast forward: He is now on disability, not working at all, we rarely sleep together and he never leaves the house. I love him still, but I didn't realize how hard this would be.
