辞書をひけば"not have a ……bone in one's body "という構文が挙げられています。 手持ちのGenius英和では「～の性質は全然持ち合わせていない」とう意味であり、”She doesn't have a mean bone in her bone.”（「彼女は意地悪な所が全然ない」）という例文が掲載されています。 そして「boneの前にはjealous, unkindなど性質を表す形容詞がはいる」という解説があります。 したがってお示しの文の場合は肯定の過去完了進行形ですので、「私は猜疑心深い気分になっていた」というほどの意味でしょう。

文脈からすると、どうも、「（昔）私の体の中に疑わしい骨があったことがあった」という意味なんでしょうね。つまり、boneはbearの過去分詞形ではなく、単純に「骨」なのでしょう。 すなわち、「bone in my body」は「私の体の中の骨」という意味ではないでしょうか。

1 So the man was taken there, and was made a kneel down in a wide sanded space crossed by a line of tobi-ishi. このcrossed by a line of tobi-ishiというのが、全くイメージがわかず訳せません。辞書などで調べ無理やり訳して見たのですが、こんな感じになってしまいました・・・ 「そうして、その人はそこに引き出され、飛び石の列と交差した広い砂が引きつめられた場所にひざまずかされた。」 これはどう読んでもおかしい気がします。crossedというのはここでは動詞でしょうか？だとすると、・・・を横切る、・・・と交差する、（人と）すれ違いになる、（手紙が）行き違いになる等々、沢山の意味があるのですが、この文ではどの意味を持つのでしょうか？ 2 Having been born stupid, by reason of my Karma, I could not always help making mistakes. 「私の宿命で、愚かに生まれ、私はいつも誤りを犯すことを避けられなかった。」 この文も、全然しっくりきません・・・ Having been born stupidは、「愚かに生まれたことで」という感じの意味でしょうか？ I could not help making mistakes. だと、「間違えてしまったのは仕方ない」という感じの意味になると思うのですが（自信ないですが・・・）、この文でさらに「always」が入ると、どのように文の意味合いが変わってくるのでしょうか？ 是非、皆様のアドバイスを頂けたらと思います。よろしくお願いします！！！
