以下の説明は"come"と"go"の問題とほぼ同じです。 ・"bring"　英語では（話し手のいる場所から聞き手のいる場所へ）「持って行く」、「連れて行く」で、日本語では（聞き手のいる場所から話し手のいる場所へ）「持って来る」、「連れて来る」という場合に逆転して使われます。 ・"take"　英語では（聞き手のいる場所から話し手のいる場所へ）「持って来る」、「連れて来る」、日本語では（話し手のいる場所から聞き手のいる場所へ）「持って行く」、「連れて行く」という場合に逆転して使われます。 【"take"は（話し手のいる場所と聞き手のいる場所ではない、第三の場所へ）「持って行く」、「連れて行く」という場合にも使われます】 (1) I must remember to bring an umbrell. この文の解釈は、話者が今話している場所からどこかへ「持って行く」ことを忘れないように…という意味になります。ですから、訳は「傘を持って行くのを覚えておかなければならない」あるいは「忘れずに傘を持って行かなければならない」です。

umbrella はともかく，bring 自体は誤りではありません。 話し手が今から聞き手のいるところに行くのに， 「雨が降りそうだから忘れずに傘を持って行かなくてはいけない」 話し手がどこかに遊びに行くとして， そこで楽しんでいる様子を想像しながら， 「もしもの時のために，忘れずに傘を持って行かなくてはいけない」 この場合いずれも英語では bring を用いて I must remember to bring an umbrella. となります。 この場合，日本語では「持って来る」とは言わないはずです。 日本語では今いる場所に「持って来る」としか言いません。 （「私」が主語の場合です）

(1) 日本語としては「忘れずに傘を持って行かなければならない」でしょうか。 bring「持って来る」 take「持って行く」 が基本ですが，必ずしもそうではありません。 よく言われるのが「聞き手のところへ（話し手が）持って行く」は bring だと言われます。 今回だと，聞き手のところに向かう場合が考えられます。 もう一つ，聞き手のところでなくても，話し手が目的地に強調を置いて発言する場合です。 いずれの場合も日本語では「持って行く」と言います。 「持って来る」だと今いる場所に「持って来る」となり， I が主語である以上，次回への教訓というのでもなければ「持って来る」とは言いません。
