苦難の末に何かを達成した人が「I」でしょう。「you」は「I」を精神的に支えていた存在です。ちなみに、コーラスの「I know you did」と言っている者は「Kept my faith」と言っている人に応えている者で、「Kept my faith」と言っている人にとっての「you」であると考えるのが自然です。 障害を乗り越えて愛を成就した人が恋人に歌っているのかもしれないし、困難の末に試合で勝ったり、商売で成功した人が恩師や親友に歌っているかもしれないし、戦火を生き抜いた人が親や神に歌っているのかもしれないし、そのあたりは、歌う都度に自由に思い描けばいいでしょう。一番有名なヴァージョンを聴くと、どうしても、恋人同士か、キャリアや人生の成功を祝う先輩後輩と思ってしまいますけどね。 ちなみに、「Like」と言っているのだから「I」は「warrior」ではありません。

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting." というよく見る例文ですが、 waitingと現在分詞になっている理由は、youとwaitingの関係が"You were waiting."と能動の関係になっているからですよね？ ただ、疑問に思うのですが、「あなたは待たされていた」訳だから、" You were waited,"という受動の関係も成り立ってしまう気がするのです。 すると、途端に、waitingの根拠が失われてしまう気がするのです。 どなたか、ご教示ください。 よろしくお願いいたします。
