訳の添削をお願いします。
こんにちは。 前回までに回答して下さった方、お礼が未だできていない状態 ですが、もう少々お待ちくださいませ。 今回は訳の添削をお願いします。 But this novel now is chiefly noticeable to me from the fact that in it I introduced a character under the name of Sir Gregory Hardlines, by which I intended to lean very heavily on that much loathed scheme of competitive examination, of which at that time Sir Charles Trevelyan was the great apostle. 「しかしこの小説は現在主に、私の目を引いており、それはその中に、 私がグレゴリーハードライン卿の名の下に登場人物を紹介したという 事実を見ても分かることである。また彼により、競争試験というひど く嫌われた枠組みにすっかり頼る傾向にあり、当時、チャールズトレ ベイラン卿は偉大な彼の使徒であったもあったのだ。」 内容が良く分かっていないので、訳が怪しいところがあると 思います。 何かご指摘等あれば、何なりとお願いします。

Anthony Trollope が1850年代に書いた "The Three Clerks" という小説についての話ですね。当時のイギリスの公務員試験を風刺した内容で、登場するSir Gregory Hardlinesは、当時の公務員試験制度を推進したSir Charles Trevelyan（実在の人）をモデルにしているのです。 I intended to ：傾向ではなく、私は～を意図した、という意味。 apostle：試験制度の伝道者という意味。 今度はもっとうまく訳せるでしょう。

このなかの I はだれですか？作者ですよね？ しかし、この小説の面白い点は、この小説に Gregory Hardlines という名の登場人物を導入したことだ。この人物によって、私はとても嫌われている「競争的試験計画」にストーリーの重点を向けている。そして、その時 Sir Charles Trevelyan はその「競争的試験計画」の伝道者であったのだ。

添削お願いしますm(_ _)m カナダのメル友へのレス、ここで添削して頂いたら、お陰様でしっかりと通じたらしく、気のせいかだんだん複雑なことを訊かれているような気がします… ぼくが書く小説はノンフィクションもあればフィクションもあります。 ぼくが書くノン・フィクションは、ぼくが昔いっしょに暮らした猫の思い出などです。 それらとともに、ぼくはフィクション・ファンタジーも書きます でも、フィクションの中にも、例えば親しい人が亡くなったときに感じた悲しみなど、本当の要素がないと、読者の共感は得られないです。 ぼくと小説創作の友だちは、互いにそれぞれが書いた小説の批評をしあったりしています。 ぼくらは互いの小説の良いと思ったところだけではなくて、いけないと思うところも指摘しあったりします。 ほかに、ぼくたちは面白かったと思ったアニメーションや「どの車が一番かっこいいか」といった話もします。 ぼくはぼくの新しい友だちから、それまでまったく知らなかったことを聞くのが大好きです。 I write non-fiction, and the fiction novels. 高校の教科書の予習ですが、 Concidering the fact that the English are quite a mixed race, Mr.Poweii might have taken time to reflect on the various events in history which have played an important part in the development of what is the English language today. の訳は イングランド人には多民族が混ざっている事実を考えると、パウエルは歴史の様々な出来事を熟考する時間を使い、今日の英語の発達に重要な役目を果たしたかもしれない。 なんか変ですよね？（笑 うまく訳せません…（泣 あと、 An African may well think of English as one of the languages of his continent just as an Indian sees it as a language of India. はどう訳すのがベストですか？
