Iam grateful to you for your kindness. この文は「S is grateful O(1) for O(2)」で、「SがO(2)の行為などに対してO(1)(←人)に感謝する」という使い方の中のtoです。 It is difficult for you to solve the problem. の場合は・・・ 「あなたにとってその問題を解く（解決する）ことは難しい」という意味ですので to solve は「解くこと」、つまりto不定詞の名詞的用法です。 文章中のある単語（今回はto）は、別の文章中に入ると意味や役割が違ってくることがあるので、一語一訳的に捉えない方が良いです。 例えば日本語でも 「あいつは空気が読めないヤツだ」 「森の空気は気持ち良い」 この２つの文中には同じ「空気」という言葉が入っていますが、示す意味が違いますよね。英語も同じです。文の構造や用法、文中でその単語が果たしている役割（周りとの絡み）を考え、全体を見ていくことが必要です。

英文の改行の位置について質問したいのですが、 I am very grateful to you for the kindness you showed us last year. という英文をデザインする場合に、 I am very grateful to you for the kindness you showed us last year. とforとtheで改行してしまっても問題はないでしょうか？ 英語の意味としておかしくなってしまうとかありますでしょうか？ よろしくお願い致します。

以下の３つの英文についてお尋ねします。 1) This math question is too difficult to solve. 2) This math question is too difficult for me (またはus) to solve. 3) This math question is too difficult to be solved. 上の1) は一般によく見かける形ですが、よく考えますとsolveの意味上の主語が曖昧とも言えます。2)はsolveの意味上の主語をfor～を用いて明確にした形ですが、常に「for+人」は必要なのだろうかとも思います。3)は文の主語と意味上の主語を一致させた形（=This math question is so difficult that it cannot be solved.「この数学の問題はとても難しいのでそれは解かれ得ない。」)となりますが、一般にこうした形はあまり見かけません。通常１）の形で通用するように思いますが、２）や３）の形も含めてどれが文法的に妥当もしくは一般的に通用する言い方となるのでしょうか。どなたかご存じの方がおられましたら宜しくご教示の程お願い申し上げます。

It is difficult to drive a car.──形式主語を使わないで書くと、 To drive a car is difficult.というのはわかるのですが、 It is difficult for me to drive a car.──この場合は、 To drive a car is difficult for me.だったか、 For me to drive a car is difficult.だったか、 それともどっちでもよかったか、忘れてしまいました。 ご教示よろしくお願い申し上げます。
