感覚的な事で申し訳ないですが、やはり僕もthroughを使うでしょうねぇ。 withは単に「道具・手段」として言っているだけなので、父の援助に対してありがたみを感じていないような気さえもしてしまいます。 "道具"として使っただけなので、その地位(場合によってはsituationは、職とも訳せるでしょうか)を得られたのはあくまで自分自身の努力の結果ぐらいの意識といいますか、かなりうがった解釈をした場合ですがちと高慢ですね^_^; 一方、throughには元々に「貫通・通過」のイメージがありますから、裏を返せば途中に何らかの過程や段階、紆余曲折を感じられそれだけ父の援助に対して多少なりとも恩義に感じているような印象もします。 単なる手段としてよりも「～のおかげで」といった感じで"つて"として使った感じです。 もちろん、自分自身も努力し頑張ったのかも知れませんが、"媒介"として父親の働きかけがあったからこそ、といった感じでしょうか。

お世話になります。 with、時を表す語、by の位置についていくつか質問があります。、 まずto不定詞を使う文のwith の位置についてですが、 「私は友達のメアリーとテニスをしに公園へ行きました。」という 意味の文を作るとき、 １．I went to the park with my friend Mary to play tennis. ２．I went to the park to play tennis with my friend Mary. の２つの文で、１の方が自然かなと思うのですが、どうでしょうか。 ２だと、メアリーとテニスをするために公園へ行くという意味に なる場合もある気がするのですが。withの位置はどこでも よいのでしょうか。それと「私は友達のメアリーとテニスをしに 公園へ行きました。」という意味の場合、目的を表すto不定詞は 文の後ろに持ってきた方がよいでしょうか。 また１の文に this morning という語を入れる場合は、 １．I went to the park with my friend Mary to play tennis this morning. ２．１．I went to the park with my friend Mary this morning to play tennis. ２の文より、１の文の方が自然でしょうか。（時を表す語は一番後ろに 置くのが正しいですか） あと、受身のbyで、父に～と言われたという文を作るとき、 thatの後ろが長い文になった場合は I told that ～ by my father. よりも、 I told by my father that～．の方がよいのでしょうか。 長くなりましたが、よろしくお願いします。

I've been friends with "Myrtle" for nearly 20 years. She used to work for me. I'm a very strong, independent woman. I've never needed many friends (I've been married to my best friend for 37 years). Myrtle has always been a drama queen. She demands a lot of attention. She is exhausting. Her husband and I have also butted heads over the years. I was reminded of my terrible memory by watching such a scene. 上記の文などは byを いつも使ってましたが、 これは with とかでは何故だめなのでしょうか？ 上手く言えません。もしかしてwithでもよい例があったりしますか？ 宜しくお願いいたします。
