御世話になります。 下記の文章ですが、部分部分の訳が微妙です。 お判りになる方、自信のある方がいらっしゃいましたら ご助言お願い致します。 【英文】 After the rapid appreciation of the yen wiped out its manufacturing cost advantage in the '80s, "A company" successfully moved its product line upscale to justify a premium price. 【訳】 1980年代の急速な円高により、同社の製造コストによる利益は 全くなくなってしまった後、A社は自社の製品ラインを、 特別価格を正当化する目的で高価格帯のものにシフトすることに 成功した。

in the '80s は its manufacturing cost advantage にかかっており、円高にかかっているのではありません。 史実として、円高で日本企業が苦しかったのは90年代前半です。 product line：「製品ライン」という訳が何を指しているのか不明確です。製品ラインナップ、品揃え、などとしたほうがはっきりします。 急激な円高によって80年代に保っていた製造コストの優位性がなくなってしまった後、A社は自社の品揃えを割高な価格でも妥当だと思ってもらえる高級品に特化することに成功した。

80年代の急速な円高によって製造コストの優位性が失われた後、Ａ社は、製品ラインを高価格に見合うように上方シフトすることに成功した。 advantageは、「利益」というより、「優位性」「有利な立場」の方が良いでしょう。 premium priceは、「割高な価格」のようなことです。

米国法からですが、英語の解釈の問題なので英語のスレで質問させていただきます。 Advantage of the close corporation includes inability to enter into contracts its own name.The close corporation is a separate legal entity: it may sue and be sued, own property, make contracts, and exercise a wide range of rights in its own name. 前半部分では、未公開会社がその名前を契約にいれるのは 不可能といっているのに、後半部分では名前を広範囲に行使できるということですが、これだとつじつまが合わないような気がしますが、私の解釈が間違っているでしょうか。
