はじめまして。合衆国に 11 年間暮らした者です。ご質問の It's on me. は大いに結構です。その支払いの額には関係無く使えます。この on は、The payment duty is on me. という意味でして、It は、「その支払い義務」を指し、「支払い義務は、私にありますよ」が転じて、「私が払いましょう」という意味になっているのです。 ちなみに、机上の英語しか知らない人が、It's me. とか、It's by me. とか、ネイティブは絶対に言わない表現を、さもまことしやかに、言ってるのは、愚の骨頂。もし身近にネイティブが居たら、試しに尋ねてみてください。まあ、英語を第二外国語としている人が話す英語だと、ネイティブの相手が分かってる場合は、その相手は理解してくれるでしょうが…。 ちょっと丁寧な言い方では、 It's my treat. I'll treat you for it. などといった言い方もあります。

よく外国人（主にアメリカ人）とメールのやりとりをするのですが、気になっていることがあります。文頭にIt is...とくる文章で、短縮形をIt'sではなくIts...と書いている人が結構多いような気がするのです。（例えば 'Its' difficult for me to see... のような文章です。）仕事関係で受け取ったメールでも、it isの短縮と思われる場面でItsとなっているのを見かけます。本来、It'sだと思うのですが、itの所有格としてではなく、Itsと書かれるのは、ひとつの書き方として認められているのでしょうか、それとも単によくある間違いなのでしょうか。教えてください。

Dear Sugars, I remember reading, at some point, that you should be willing to give any money you lend to friends and family as a gift if you want to maintain that friendship or relationship. I get this. I've lived by it for a long time. However, I went against my better judgment and lent a friend a lot of money. She said she would pay me back quickly, but now it's been almost a year. I never imagined that she would avoid the topic the way she has, but after I lent her the money, she never mentioned it again. My heart hurts when I think about it. If it were a few hundred dollars I would feel OK with the gift, but this is a big amount of money. to動詞～（何の動作か）に対してならfor me. It(That) was lucky. その状況（Itやthat)が 私にとってだけ（世間一般てきにでなく）ならto me, generallyな状態で私にとってならfor me. と、前提考えがあって、 ①The ceiling is too high for me to touch. ②That was lucky to you. It was good to me. ( for me.) で いいと思っているのですが、あってますか？ あれ？ Grammarlyで②のto you / to meがひっかかるな？ for you/ for meにすればひっかかりません。 これもfor meしかダメってこと？ ②なんてto 動作～の句部分がないのに。 わかりません、教えてください。

知り合いの子に教えて欲しいと頼まれ困っています。 Don't enter my room while I'm out. 私がいない間は部屋に入らないで という文なんですが、While I'm out, don't enter my room. というような命令文は文法的に合っているのでしょうか？ また、Will you buy it for me when you go there? そこへ行ったら、それを買ってきてくれない？ をWhen you go there, will you buy it for me? とした場合、文法的にはどうなのでしょうか？ 知り合いの子の本には、Will you buy it for me when you go there? のような文が正解としか書いていないらしく、どうしてWhenから始めてはいけないのか、と知りたいらしいです。 私は文法にうといので、どっちでも同じじゃないの？、って思ってしまうのですが、本当のところはどうなんでしょう？ どうかよろしくお願いします。
