こんにちは。 (1)John has offered to take care of my dog while I'm abroad. （私が海外にいる間、私の犬の面倒を見ようとジョンが申し出てくれた） →ジョンの申し出は現在も有効な状態にある＝現在完了＜継続＞。 (2)John offered to take care of my dog while I'm abroad. （私が海外にいる間、私の犬の面倒を見ようとジョンが＜申し出てた＞。） →ジョンの申し出はすでに「単なる過去」。 だと思います。どちらも正しい文章なので、それぞれの訳があります。(2)は＜申し出てた＞と「単なる過去」を強調して書きました。訳は微妙です。英語の参考書や問題集を見ても微妙なものがほとんどです。だから訳は感覚で理屈抜きに「こういうものなんだ」と覚えるしかないと思います。 それと、 「私が海外にいる間、私の犬の面倒を見ようとジョンが申し出てくれた。」を英文にしなさい。 という問題ならば(1)(2)ともに正解だと思います。＜申し出てくれた＞は単なる過去とも現在完了の継続のどたらでも違和感がないからです。

I took care of the dog which was hurt.私は傷ついた犬の世話をした。 I took care of the dog , which was hurt.こうなると訳はどうなるでしょうか。問題集では意味の違いがわかるように訳せとなっておりました。前後に文はありません。「傷ついていたので、その犬の面倒をみた」これだとwhich had been hurt 「私はその犬の面倒を見たけれど、傷つけたしまった」など考えました。よろしくお願いします。

彼にWhat do i meant to you?と聞いたらSomeone whom I want to take care ofと返事があり、冗談っぽくIs it care of my English study?と返したら、No, I care about you とメールがきました。 私も本気では聞いたんですが、彼も本気ですか？

今私は大学受験生なのですが、接続詞の用法がよく分らず困っています。 実は、 you can borrow my bicycle, ( )you take care of it well. という穴埋め問題で、答えの選択肢に(1)while(2)as long asの二つが入っていました。答えは(2)なのですが、なぜwhileでいけないのか分りません。ここはifでも置き換え可能なのでwhileでも良い気がするのですが… 何かアドバイス頂けたら大変嬉しいです。

"She says her son's caught a cold and she (must be taking/ must have taken/ will be taking/ will have been taking) care of him." 以前この件について質問をして、なぜwill have been takingが駄目なのかは分かりました。ただ新たな疑問がわき、英語力のある皆さんに聞いております。 （質問１） これはいかがでしょうか？ "She says her son's caught a cold and she will have to take care of him." （質問２） 「息子が風邪を引いちゃって息子の世話をしなきゃいけないんだ。」 という意味を表す英文はどうなるのでしょうか？ "... and she must take care of him."でいいのでしょうか？それとも上記質問１の英文になるのでしょうか？ （質問３） いずれにしても、tonightと未来を表す文なので、必ずwillなどの助動詞が必要なのでしょうか? ...she must take care of him.は駄目ですか？

My fiancé and I just got engaged and are to be married as soon as he graduates from law school. My dad, who has a sense of humor most (but not all) people appreciate, took him on a weekend hunting trip, and according to my intended, made a number of veiled threats of violent acts should he fail to take care of me properly. Of course he tells me he was only joking and it was all in good fun, but that’s not the way my boyfriend sees it. He tells me he has grounds for a case against my father, and although he’s definitely not taking any action, he might in the future if dad doesn’t control himself. I love my fiancé, but I’m starting to rethink our engagement. Should I just tell him to lighten up, or hope that my dad understands and is more accommodating of his sensitivities? according to my intended, made a number of veiled threats of violent acts should he fail to take care of me properly. の和訳を教えてください。intendedの後に何か省略されているのでしょうか？あと、has grounds for a case against my father,の意味も教えてください。よろしくお願いします

Yesterday my boyfriend’s mother offered to pay for some classes in cake decorating for me so that I can further my experience in baking to get a better job. I’m unemployed looking for a bakery job right now, which is why she offered to pay, and she wants me to pay her back by doing housework for her over the weekends.
