show more sophisticationってどんな意味ですか？
課題でナイジェリアの石油と賄賂についての記事を読んでるのですが、どうしてもこの部分だけ意味が分かりません。 Washington may be showing more sophistication in dealing with its oil partners than it has with regimes in the Middle east, but the harsh realities of being an oil economy remains. というパラグラの中の最初のshowing more sophisticationという部分なのですが、次にbutが来ているため、positiveなことを言ってるのだろうとは思うのですが辞書を調べても文に合った訳が出ず困ってます。 どなたかアドバイスお願いします。

show sophistication 「素養を見せる」「才能を示す」 (display / manifest sophistication ともいう） というのが本来の用法です。 例 show mathematical sophistication 「数学の素養を見せる」 この場合は「賢く立ち回る」「うまく立ち回る」とか「やり方が巧妙だ」とかそういうニュアンスを帯びるかも知れません（sophistication には「詭弁」「こじつけ」「屁理屈」の意味があります）が、ちょっと全体の文脈が分からないので、これだけではそこまで判断できません。 ざっとの解釈で恐縮ですが↓ご参考までに。 「米国政府は、中東諸国の扱い方においてこれまで示してきた以上に、もっと oil partners の扱い方のほうでもっと大きな才能ぶりを発揮しつつあるのかも知れない。しかし～の厳しい現実は依然として残るのだ。」

ワシントンは中東諸国の体制との付き合いの中でこれまで見せてきたものより、より高度の洗練振りを石油交易の相棒たる諸国との付き合いの中で示しつつあるのかもしれない。しかし、一つの石油経済圏となるための過酷な現実は残されたままだ。 than it has (shown much sophistcation in dealing) with regimes in the Middle east, と考えて見ました。being は becoming の意味として、an oil economy は一つの有機的統一体としての経済圏として解釈しました。the harsh realities of being an oil company の of の解釈に悩みましたが、A of B で、B に属する A という基本形で考えて見ました。 being an oil company ということの構成要素として、the harsh realities があると考え、being an oil company という状態に至るために乗り越えなければにらない課題というように解釈をいたしました。 the harsh realities に対応するので、remains は remain ではないかと思うのですが、違ってますでしょうか？

こんばんは どうも賄賂が絡んでいるようなので (^^) ～～石油相手国との取り引きにおいて、 より手慣れた（洗練された）巧妙なやり方を示すかも知れない～～ で、合わないでしょうか？

My husband's family is full of people who drink too much and then act like fools, slurring their words, stumbling and vomiting. It happens at many gatherings, and it stresses me out. They often pressure me to drink more and/or get drunk. Because I don't do it, I feel ostracized at these gatherings where I'm told I need to loosen up or cheer up by drinking more. No one else in my life thinks I'm uptight. I'm normally very sociable. These days, I avoid those family gatherings as often as possible, but I'm afraid I'm courting more problems by not participating in family activities. My relationship with my husband is fantastic, and he understands and supports me, but I don't feel like his family does.
