That bad habit seemed to her not perhaps of great consequence to the people. という文について質問があり、投稿させて頂きました。 現在、私は以下のように考えています。 ' That bad habit seemed to her ～' 「その悪い習慣が、彼女には～のように思われた（見えた）。」 (1) ' not perhaps 'は「おそらく～でない」 (2) ' of 'は「～（の性質・特徴）を持つ」 以上を合わせて考えると、 「彼女には、その悪い習慣（悪習）がおそらく人々に素晴らしい影響を持たないように思われた。」 となります。（日本語らしくない直訳ですが…） しかし、人々にとって悪い習慣が素晴らしい影響を持たないというのは当たり前のような気がします。そんなことを考えていると、この訳は全く見当違いのような気がしますが、どこが間違っているのかわかりません。 どなたか解説していただける方がいらっしゃいましたら、お手数をお掛けし申し訳ありませんが、教えて下さい。よろしくお願いします。
