わたしは、 yon waning ribbon of the night は、 夜が、東から明けてきて、だんだん暗い部分が細くなってリボンのようになり、「満ち欠け」と言う場合の「欠けてきている状態」 だ、と取りました。 ご参考まで。

#2さんのご解説はまさに回答者の鏡と言えましょう。 私も、あのように解説したいのですけど、なにぶん英語の先生では無いので、ご容赦を。 さて、＃１の補足です。 ケンブリッジ英英辞書より、 a ribbon of sth a long, narrow piece of something: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/ja/dictionary/english/ribbon という訳で、 ribbon of the night.で、「この長い夜」という意味になるのですね。 said something or other was例文（その２） Rupert said Sulzberger should "get a life." He also said something or other was "bullshit." 例文、とても参考になりました。理解できなかった部分ですので、大変参考になりました。ribbon of the night という表現は、難しいですね。比喩、暗喩等が使われていますと、理解するのに苦労します。

moon を mood,yon を you と間違っていました。すみませんでした。引用符が使われていますが、誰の言葉かわかりませんでした。ジョン・キーツの引用だったのですね。call'd はcalled,yon は yonder だとわかりました。古い英語が使われているのと、詩的な表現のように感じます。自分の英語力ではさっぱりです。

Something happened once when my friend Jack was Living in Minnesota-- something that he didn`t consider any big deal.I called Jack`s house to speak with him, and the phone was answerd by an unfamiliar voice. The radio was playing loudly in the background, and for a moment I thought I might have dialed an incorrect number. The voice on the other end said a few labored words that I could`t understand, and then stopped. The rock music from the radio continued. I stayed on the line, concerned that something was wrong. ご指摘いただいた通り、英語を学習中です。NHK基礎英語1から英語学習をやり直しまして、途中、英語多読法を挟みまして、現在は、海外ドラマやNHKの実践ビジネス英語を中心に学習しています。a name はStump Jump Grenache同格だったんですね。気づきませんでした。直接話法だと思いますが、今回の英文のような形を見たことがありませんでしたので、こちらも見抜けませんでした。ジョン・キーツの言ったと思われる言葉は古英語も使われていまして、とても難しく、理解できませんでしたので、教えていただいて、とても勉強になりました。話の流れとしましては、何か飲み物を飲んだらどうか、と言ってアルコールをすすめていましたが、それを飲んで何の役に立つのか、といった感じでした。実はこの質問はほかの質問サイトで質問されていたものでして、僕自身はこの作品を全く読んでおりません。理解できず、気になっていましたので、こちらのサイトのお力をお借りしました。調べられるものは、調べるという姿勢は大変参考になりました。
