(1)would ('d) は助動詞です。助動詞は話者の気持ちを表す品詞です。助動詞の過去形は気持ちの込め方が現在形よりも強くなり、遠回しの表現になります。遠回しにすると遠慮した、丁寧な言葉遣いになるのです。つまりはっきりとは言いにくいことを柔らかく伝える働きがあるのです。少しオーバーに和訳すると「時間を損していらっしゃるように思えるのですが…。」のようになります。 現在(進行)形は、気持は入りません。事実を伝えているだけで、文脈によっては相手に対して失礼な内容になるかも知れません。「こんなの時間の無駄だ。」 (2)They are が正しいです。What is this? に This is ～では誤りです。 (3)両方とも正解です。nor は少し硬くて古い感じがする言葉です。 (4)all surprised 「すっかり驚いて」「吃驚仰天して」、 We all 「私達全員」となります。all が修飾する語が変化します。 (5) not を短縮形にしない場合は、not を強く発音します。その分だけ「…ない」の意味が強くなります。短縮形は have の部分が強く読まれるので「…ない」の意味は弱くなります。誤解を避けなければならないなら not を使うべきです。 (6) to work か working にしなれればなりません。work を「作業」という意味にするなら、the work とします。 (7) Are you still hungry? 「たくさん食べているのに、まだお腹がすいているのか？」 Are you hungry yet ? 「さっき満腹になったのに、もうお腹かすいたのか？」

映画のシーンです。 ママ：Honey, are you packed yet? 荷造りは？ ケビン：Yes. 済んだ。 Are you packed? は Are you finished?レストランなどで「お下げしても宜しいでしょうか」 という形と同じだと思いますが、 直訳すると「あなたは終わっている状態ですか？」のような。 ところが yet は否定文の中に使われているのを見るのがほとんどで、 この場合は already のような使われ方をしているのがどうも不思議です。 どなたかAre you packed yet? の yetの意味を説明していただけないでしょうか。
