タイムのサッカーに関する記事で、以下のものがありました。 ＰＫはくじ引きみたいだ、と言われているが実はそうではない、という記事ですが、 “to stay in the shoot-out”というのはどういう意味でしょうか。 the conversion rates for penaltiesというのは、ＰＫでの、ゴール前シュート対ゴールの比率でいいですか？ The only “lottery” element of the shoot-out is the coin toss to determine which team chooses to kick first. The team kicking first is 60% more likely to win the shoot-out, in part because the conversion rates for penalties “to stay in the shoot-out” drops to 62% in major tournaments, while the rate “to win the shoot-out” rises to 92%. In other words, if a player is thinking that he’s about to become a hero, he’s more likely to be that hero. よろしくお願いします。

PK戦については、こちらをご参照下さい。 http://d.hatena.ne.jp/keywordtouch/PK%C0%EF?kid=140016 自分が失敗するとチームの負けが決まって試合が終わってしまうという場面では、心理的なプレッシャーがかかって普段の力が出ない傾向がある。 逆に、自分がキックを決めれば勝利が決定するという場面では、アドレナリンが出て、普段以上の力を発揮することが多い。 そういうことを言っていると思います。

Shoot-outは「PK合戦」 Conversion rateは「（PKのチャンスを得点に変換するときの）変換効率」 要するに「PK成功率」ということでしょう。 「PK合戦を続けるためのペナルティーキック(それを外すと敗戦が決定してしまうとき）はPK成功率が低い」と言っています

The only “lottery” element of the shoot-out is PKでの唯一の「くじ」の要素は the coin toss to determine which team chooses to kick first. どちらが先にけるかを決めるためのコイントスである。 ※「くじ」は「確率が50vs50で、選手の努力は無関係である」といことの喩えです。 The team kicking first is 60% more likely to win the shoot-out, 先攻チームがPKに勝つ確率は60% in part because 理由の一つとして the conversion rates for penalties “to stay in the shoot-out” 反則で「PKに持ち込む(だけなら、成功する確率は)」 ※成功しても同点止まりのPKということのようです。 drops to 62% in major tournaments, 62%までに下がる、マイナーな試合では。 while the rate “to win the shoot-out” rises to 92%. 一方、「決勝点になるPK」が成功する確率は92%にまで上がる。 ※同点の時のPKの確率のことのようです。 In other words, つまり、 if a player is thinking that he’s about to become a hero, 自分が英雄になることを思い浮かべているなら he’s more likely to be that hero 英雄になる見込みが高くなるということになります。 ※「負けている時のPKでは、キッカーは勝つことを想像していない」というのが理論の前提になっているようです。理論というより、乱暴な決め付けになっています。

大学受験用の英語の問題を解いていて…。 that節の中に there is more to making a hero than merely the bottom line of success とあったのですが文の構造がよくわかりません。 (is以降) more ( to making a hero ) than ( merely the bottom line of success) と分けて考えて、 than以下は「成功という最終的な結果以上の」と訳して差し支えがなさそうなのですが(解答を見たら)、 more to making a hero とthan以下は文法的にどのように繋がっているのですか？ 訳の例では「ヒーローであることには成功という最終的な結果以上のものが存在する」となっています。
