次の問題です。 自然がこんなにもかけがえのない大切なものだと思われた時代は， かつてなかったにちがいない。 テキストの解答は以下のようになっています。 There must have been no other time [ age ] when nature is considered to be more essential [ precious ] than now [ today / this age ] 最後の than now がしっくり来ないのですが・・・。 nature と now を比べているようで、変な感じがします。 than it is today だとよいのかなと思ったり・・・自信がありません。 それとも no other time ... than というつながりだと考えるのでしょうか。 間違いがあれば訂正していただけますか?

than nowはno other timeと比較されています。than it is todayの解釈には間違いありません。 when nature is considered to be more essentialはtimeを修飾する形容詞節ですから、その節の中の主語natureが比較対象ではありません。

やはりこの解答の英文の than ～は more essential という比較級とつながっているつもりですね。 no other time と now / today / this age を比べる。 すると， In no other time has nature been considered to be essential than now. のような英語を作るべきです。 テキストの解答は英語として成り立っていません。
