- My car needs repairs and I am looking for assistance.
- I would like to know if it is acceptable for me to smoke.

1 I need to repair my car =My car needs (reparing). 車直さなきゃ。 2 Would you mind if I smoke? =Would you mind (my) (smpoking)? タバコ吸ってもよかと。 3 Whenever I visit him, I find him absent =I never visit him (without) finding him absent. いつ行ってもあいついねーんだよ。 4 He insisted that I should pay for it =He insisted on (my)(paying)for it. あいつ俺に払えだとよ。 5 She is proud that she got high scores =She is proud of (being) (get) high scores. いい点とってあの娘ドヤ顔でやんの。 6 Lee couldn't go to the concert because of a cold =A cold prevented Lee (from)(going)to the concert. リーったら風邪ひいてコンサート行けねえでやんの。 7 Needless to say, you have to do your best =It goes (without)(saying) that you have to do your best. 悔いなく戦うのがあたりめえだろが。 8 It is impossible to tell what will happen in the future =There is (no) (telling) what will happen in the future. 明日はどこ吹く風よ。
