(2) Jonathan Freedman, a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, believes that a correlation between TV violence and real-life violence does not prove that the first causes the second. (3) He says this is“going so far beyond (that) the data it's shocking." (4) According to Freedman, aggression is connected with, but not caused by, violent TV. (3)文の意味がわかりません。(2)文でFreeedmanは、それらの因果関係はないと信じている、といっているのに、データを超えてショッキングである、といっているので、矛盾している気がします。 なぜなら、データを超えてショッキングであるというならば、因果関係を表すデータがあるということになるのではないでしょうか。 また、(that)は、教科書の補足に、(that)を補って考えると書いてあるので、原文には、thatはないけど補って追記してみました。 よろしくお願い致します。

直訳しますと 彼は、これは「データを遠く超えているので、驚きだ」という。 即ち「これ」（テレビと実際の関連があると言う論）は資料が示していること（そんなに関係ない）を遥かに超えているのでびっくりした、ということです。ですから that は不要です。
