私の手持ちの辞書 (「スーパー・アンカー英和辞典」 ver2) を見ると、「(勤務・営業などの) 時間」 という意味で用いられる場合には hours という形を取るようです。

According to Examiner.com, former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland showed up an hour late to his show in New York at The Paramount on Sunday. Examiner gave the show 1 star and said, “Scott Weiland took the stage almost an hour late and he gave a lackluster performance throughout the evening. Most of his vocals were off-key, pitchy and horrid. Scott seemed to be doing his own little show, thus losing complete touch with reality. The majority of his fans left half-way through his set.”

Calvin works only enough hours to leave time to drink at his favorite bar, which is across from the store where he and my husband work. We usually drive him to work, he works for about four hours and then drinks at the bar until my husband picks him up to come home (we live less than two miles away from the store). Calvin has four grown children who live about an hour away. Yesterday, one of his kids gave Calvin a car. He does not have a driver's license and today he drove himself to work. As I write this, it's too early in the day to know if he stopped at the bar before driving himself home. What should I do, if anything? it's too early in the dayのin the dayはなぜ必要なのでしょうか?あと、ここでのif anythingの訳し方を教えてください。よろしくお願いします

  • 英語の和訳です。お願いします!!

There he was on the ground,in no condition to go on, and all of a sudden he was no longer in Poland.instead,he found himself imaging himself standing on a stage on postwar Vienna giving a lecture on The Psychology of Death Camps. Audience of two hundred listened to his every word. The lecture was one that he had been working out the whole time he had been in the death camp. He spoke about how some people seem to survive the experience better than others, psychologically and emotionally. It was a brilliant lecture, all taking place in his mind's eye and ear. He was no longer half dead on the field but living in the lecture. During the lecture, Frankl told the imaginary audience about the day he was in that field being beaten and was certain he didn't have the strength to get up and keep walking. Then, wonder of wonders, he told his imagined audience, he was able to stand up. The guard stopped beating him and get began to walk slowly. As he was imagining describing this to his audience, his body got up and began to walk. He continued to imagine this lecture all the while he was doing the work and through the cold march back to the death comp. He collapsed into his narrow bed, imagining ending this brilliantly clear speech and receiving a standing ovation.

  • どのような意味でしょうか

My son is a dedicated anesthesiologist. He took a job at a small hospital in a small town, hoping to enjoy a reasonable life. The pay isn't as good as that of a large hospital in a big city, but he was willing to take a cut in order to work there. I realize that the hours are never good for his type of specialty, but I am so upset that the people at this hospital expect him to put in 24-hour days with little sleep. ここでthe hours are never goodとはどのような意味でしょうか?よろしくお願いします
