英文の和訳2
またまたすみません。 今回も、英文の訳を教えてください。 お願いします！ 1．It is good to live a busy and honest life,for no one can be happy who is useless, and idleness makes all sorts of things wrong. >It is good to live a busy and honest lifeの意味はわかるのですが、 その後の文の意味、特にuselessとidleness の間にandがあるのにコンマが入る意味がわかりません。 2．It may be thought that the field of the unknown has been exhausted in engineering and that there is nothing left for the inquiring mind, but this comment is only made by those who do not see for themselves. ＞but this comment is only made by those who do not see for themselves の文の訳は分かるのですが、そこから前のところがさっぱり分かりません。 ちなみに、the inquiring mind＝研究心のある人、だそうです。 長い文で読みづらくてごめんなさい。 スペルは一応確認しましたがもしかしたら打ち間違いがあるかもしれません。 おかしいときは、遠慮無く言ってください。

こんばんわ、ukyou2tさん。Ameringo参上です♪ １．,for は、becauseと同じような意味で、ちょっと軽めに「というのも」「なぜなら」のように付け加えの理由みたいな感じで訳すといいと思います。（接続詞です） no one can be happy [who is useless], [ ]のところはno one にかかっていて、 [ ]な人間で幸せになったものはいない＝[ ]な人は幸せになれないの意。 uselessには、（人が）なにもできない、愚鈍なという意味があるようです。（どちらもあまりいい意味じゃないですが。） uselessとidlenessの間カンマは、,idleness makes all sorts of things wrong.は、独立していて、理由付けの部分は, for～uselessまでで終わっているんだよ。ってことを表しています。 It is good to live a busy and honest life,for no one can be happy who is useless.とAnd idleness makes all sorts of things wrong. の２つ内容に分かれているわけです。 あと、sorts＝kindsですよね。 日々忙しく、誠実に暮らすというのは良いことだ。なぜなら、愚鈍な人間は、幸福になどなれないからだ。 怠慢は、あらゆることを良くない方に運んでしまうものだ。 2．It may be thought [that the field of the unknown has been exhausted （in engineering）]and [that there is nothing（left for the inquiring mind）] （ ）部分は修飾語なので一度とって考えるとシンプルになって分かりやすくなります。 It may be thought [that the field of the unknown has been exhausted]and [that there is nothing], andの前後はthat節（[ ]で囲んだもの）で、この文の意味上の主語です。でも、あまりに長いので、頭でっかちな格好の悪い文になることを防ぐため、itをおいて後ろにまわしているんです。２つ目のthatもthere is nothing～がitの示している内容に含まれていることを表すために必要です。 工学において、未知の領域は研究されつくされてしまい、研究心のある者には何も残っていないと思われているのかしれないが、よく調べもしないやつほどそういう評言をするものだ。 長くなりました。読むのも一苦労ですね。（苦） 上手く訳せなかったんで、手直ししてください。 少しはお役に立てたでしょうか？？ではでは☆

No.2です。回答をアップしたら、No.1のmickjey2さんの「挿入」というご説明があったので、そういう見方もあるのか、と気づきました。ただ、ここは微妙ですね。私は文章を前から読んでいって、,forとあるので「これは前文の理由だな」、,andがあるので、一息ついて、という読み方をしたのでNo.2のような解釈になりました。どちらがいいのか、読む人によって取り方は違うかもしれません。
私の対象という言い方より、7UPさんの理由と書く方がわかりやすかったですね。 for のかかる文の解釈ですけど、 for の前にある , が無ければ私も7upさんに同意します。 ただ,があるとすると、挿入句ではないかと思うのですが、、１００％の自信はありません! では。

私なりに訳してみます。 1．It is good to live a busy and honest life,for no one can be happy who is useless, and idleness makes all sorts of things wrong. まず、, andですが、ここで文が切れているということでしょう。それ以前が一つと考えます。 It is good to live a busy and honest life,for no one can be happy who is useless このforは理由を表します。whoはno oneのことでしょう。 忙しくて正直な人生を送るのはよいことだ、それは役に立たない人間は誰も幸せになれないから。 それに続いてand以後が続きます。 and idleness makes all sorts of things wrong そして怠惰はすべてのことを間違いにしてしまう。 これで分かりますでしょうか。あまりいい訳ではないので、あとはもっと日本語らしくしてみてください。 2．It may be thought that the field of the unknown has been exhausted in engineering and that there is nothing left for the inquiring mind, but this comment is only made by those who do not see for themselves. butまでにIt may be thoughtにつながる二つの文があります。 that the field of the unknown has been exhausted in engineering that there is nothing left for the inquiring mind, engineeringをどう訳すか難しいですが、「工学」としときましょう。 the inquiring mind＝研究心のある人、というのは意訳でしょうね。 工学において、未知の分野は枯渇した（未知の分野はなくなった） 研究心のある人に残されたものは何もない という二つのことが、考えられるだろう、ということです。まとめてみると： 工学において未知の分野は枯渇し、研究心のある人に残されたものは何もない、と考えられるだろう、しかし・・・ これももっといい日本語にしてくださいね。 以上でいかがでしょうか。何かの課題ですか？

1.の文は、 A)It is good to live a busy and honest life, B)idleness makes all sorts of things wrong. と２つの文で成り立っています。 でこの対象が、 for no one can be happy who is useless になっています。この文を一番先頭に持っていっても良いし、あるいは一番文の最後にしても良いのですが、ここでは挿入しているのです。 なので、挿入した場合は , for .... , と両方,で挿入であることを示します。 文章が長いので、とりあえず早くこの文の対象である for を言いたい為に挿入したのでしょう。 2. It may be thought that .... でIt は仮主語、that いかが本当の主語ですね。 C)the field of the unknown has been exhausted in engineering D)there is nothing left for the inquiring mind という２つの文からなっています。 でそんなことを誰が考えるのかというと、but以下ということですね。 the field of the unknown ... 未知の領域 be exhausted ... 研究し尽くされた と訳すと意味が通るでしょう。

趣味で自作曲を公開している者です。 外国の方から届いたメッセージを翻訳して頂きたいです。 the reason why you were informed: you have been flagged as someone who knows what good music is, and what good music isn't, due to your recent video/musical interest I have been going around asking all the good music fans the question. What does it take to make a great band? It takes a little Zeppelin, a little Floyd, and a little of all those greats in the 60's and 70's Well the video I am asking you to watch is my end product. But I still need some feedback. I know I know the recording isn't to hot and the Vocals need work, but they're already in the process of being worked on. Constructive criticism is welcomed as well as recommendations, tips, or advice. It might seem lame at first, trust me its not. but if you really opened your mind up and relax and really listen to what my meaning is. You will enjoy my music I promise that. It is built the same way that Zeppelin built there songs, with feeling the same composition qualitys as Floyd, with drive.
