confirm that ～ で that 以下のことを確証する, 確認する ですが、そこへ for the president が挿入されたものです。 この for は、何かの宛先や受取人をあらわす for で、 a present for you ・・・君への贈り物 という使い方と同じものです。 for the president ならば、大統領に対して ぐらいの意味です。 （ここでは、確認された情報の受取人が大統領ということ） 本来なら confirm Ａ for Ｂ で、Ｂのために（Ｂに対して）Ａを確認する となるところですが、Ａの that 以下の部分が長いので、 文末に移動した と考えていいと思います。

時制の一致の問題で、 基本的に主節が過去形なら従属節も過去形にしますよね。 I thought you were going to shool.のように。 ではさらに続けてthat節や関係詞が続く場合、こちらもまた 過去形または過去完了形にするのでしょうか？ 例えば I thought you were going to shool that is located in Tokyo. I thought you were going to shool that was located in Tokyo. 時制の一致の例外以外の理由で主節が過去形なのに that節が現在形なのは変なような気がするのですが・・・ 文法書にも載っていないのでどなたかわかりませんか？
