間違い探しの問題
英文の間違いを探す問題です Owing to their superior skills,highly competitive swimmers have been known to win contests and break records even when suffered from injuries. 答えは when が間違いになってます。 even if だと思いますが when でも意味は合うので間違いでないような気がします。 教えてください。 和訳はついていません。

こんにちは。 (1) これ、何の問題ですか？ これは僕、when でも構わないと思いますね。何か文法的な致命的間違いであるというのではなくて、「even when ⇒ 例え怪我で故障した際にでも」としっかり文意が通るのでそれで良いと考えます。 even if は「万が一」という意味合いが出せますが、怪我やら故障なんていうのはスポーツ選手にとって「付きもの」ですから、when と言ってもバツにはできないと思いますよ。even though となると「もう怪我をしている」という意味合いに感じられるので不適ですが、「起るかどうか分からない事柄」を表現するのに even when は全然 OK ですよ。ネイティブは二つを組み合わせて、こんな言い方も多用します： ・I will immediately let you know when and if I hear from her. (2) 実は問題はその次の suffered ですね。「誰が怪我で苦しむのか」というと、当然 these swimmers ですから、ここは現在進行形か現在形で： ・even when/if (they are) suffering from injuries (自動詞） ・even when/if (they are) suffering injuries （他動詞） ・even when/if they suffer (from) injuries （自・他動詞） 、、、のどれかにとなるハズで、過去分詞形の： ・even when/if suffered from injuries 、、、はバツでしょう。 ここで使われている suffer は from 付きですから自動詞ですね。多くの場合、from の後には arthritis、cancer などの病気や疾病名が来るようなので、どちらかと言うと個人的には「suffer する原因 ⇒ injuries」なら他動詞で even when suffering injuries の方が好きですが、この問題は「-ed？ -ing？」が出題主旨なのでしょう。 ご参考までに。

こんにちは！ 現在完了の文章で、when は現在完了とはいっしょには使えないという文法事項がありますが、この場合のwhen 節は win と break に掛かると解釈できますので、それには抵触しません。 むしろ suffered が明らかにおかしいです。省略されているはずの they are を補いますと、even when they are suffered from injuries となり、suffer はこういう使い方はけっしてしないと思います。 even when (they are) suffering from injuries であるべきところです。 私の単純な誤解かもしれません。他の回答もお待ち下さい。

ありがとうございます。 すいません 質問が間違ってました。 答えはwhen suffered の部分が間違いとなってました。 訂正の仕方が載ってないので自分で判断してeven if だと思ってました。 ということはwhen they are suffering かwhen suffering ですね？
"when" は将来的に起こり得る可能性が高い時に使います。 "if" は単に仮定しているだけです。 例: Please turn off the light when you leave the room. 部屋を出るときには電気を消してください。 (ほぼ100 ％ 部屋を出る) 例: Please let me know if he comes. もし彼が来たら教えてください。 (来るか来ないか、わからない) "highly competitive swimmers" の将来的にけがをする可能性が高いとは考えてないと思うので、単に仮定しているだけだと考えいます。 よって、even if が正しいと思います。

I insisted that he attend her birthday party. という文章に間違いがあれば、 その箇所を指摘して正解に直すという問題です。 はじめは、attend の前に should がいるのではないかと思ったのですが 文法の本を見ると、なくてもよい場合もあるようです。 それならば attends ？ でも仮定法とか直説法という場合があるらしく それによってはこのままでもいいのかな、と悩んでいます。 ご存知の方、よろしくお願いします。

What was the experience like? I see it as a very positive thing. I think it’s an honor to play on all those other people’s records. And even if sometimes it took away from my own personal time, I think that only made me more anxious to do my own things. It should be many books you can refer to. この中の１つで文法上の間違いがあるらしいのですが、どのような間違いなのでしょう。3.で、many books をさしているのにもかかわらず、主語がitと単数になっているのが変だと思うのですがどうでしょうか。 1. Few people take part in such a dangerous sport. 2. There is few snow in this area. Nobody needs high boots. 3. Even a little rain can save a dying plant in the desert. 同様にこの中にも一つの文に間違いがあるようなのですが、確定できません。2.のsnowを不可算名詞ととればfew→littleになるべきだと思うのですが、いかがでしょうか。 ぶしつけな質問ですが、お知恵を拝借したいです。どうぞよろしくお願い申し上げます。
