「不知文言」という言葉は聞いた事がないので、その意味を教えてくれませんか？ 英語の disclaimers というのは、自分に責任が来ない様に発表するステートメントで、製薬会社の宣伝で説明すれば、「この薬には～、～、～、の様な副作用があり、服用後～、～、～といった症状がある場合は早急に医師にご相談ください」というような説明がそれにあたります。アメリカ社会は起訴が多いので、それを避けるための公開情報です。 ご質問の中のフレーズは、「自分で確かめたものではないが、他の情報源によると」という意味合いのようなので、それの場合は、second-hand information と言えます。勿論これが disclaimers の中に含まれる事も可能です。

和訳はできるだろうけど、英訳のときにtoは思いつかないだろうという言い方に、come to say, go out to playなどという言い方があります。 どちらも 「来て言いました」や、「外に行って遊びました」と日本語で言いそうなところです。日本人ならHe came and said.とかWe went out and played.と作文するでしょう。 これを中学レベルの文法用語でいうと、副詞的用法「～するために」というグループに入るわけですか？ また、一般レベルまで枠を広げると、どういう風に解釈したらいいのでしょう？toを使うとどういうニュアンスがあるのでしょう？それとも、深い意味はなくて、「その場合そういう言い回しが普通」というレベルなのでしょうか？ 文法用語と連動させて理解したいのでご回答よろしくお願いいたします。
