1)は幼年時代を過ごした「場所」という意味で。 2)は幼年時代に訪ねた「場所の内の1つ」という意味で。 場所だけれど、幾つか項目がある場合はwhichです。

(これは私が幼少期を過ごした町です。) where は関係副詞 spentの目的語はchildhoodです （≒I spent my childhood in this town) (2) This is the town [which] I visited when I was child. これは私が子供のとき行った町です。 visitの目的語が town ですので 関係代名詞 which を使いま す (≒Ｉvisited this town when I was a child）

This is the place where I was born. This is the place in which I was born. の2文はわかるのですが、 どうして This is the village where I visited last year. は間違いで、 This is the village which I visited last year. は正しいのかがわかりません。 先行詞 the village が、動詞visit の目的語に当るから 目的格の関係代名詞がはいるとのことですが、この説明自体が良くわからないため、自分で理解できていないのだと思います。 This is where I visited last year. は正しいと思うので、 The is the place where I visited last year. もきっと正しいのではないかと思います。 しかし、 the place を the village に変えると、なんで where は間違いで、which にしなくてはいけないのか、そこが理解できていないんだと思います。 どなたか、教えていただけませんでしょうか。よろしくお願いします。

This is the place which I have long wanted to visit. The group of students visited the cottage where the great dramatist was born. この二つの文章において、1つ目のほうは、which、2つ目のほうは、whereで場所を指し示すとのことなのですが、両方場所を指しているのに、何故このような使い分けをするのかがよく分かりません。 いったい何故なのでしょうか？

英語の質問 関係詞について。 This is the city which I was bone in この関係代名詞の文は、 This is the city in which I was bone に書き換えられるというのを理解しました。 そして、 This is the hospital where my aunt works という文がありました。関係副詞の文です。 これは、 This is the hospital at which my aunt works に書き換えられるというのを理解しました。というかこの構造が関係副詞になるということを理解しました。 両方の文とも、同じような形になってますよね? ここで１つ疑問に思って、上の文の This is the city in which I was bone という文は、the cityが場所を表しているから、in which を whereにして、関係副詞の文に出来るんでしょうか? 関係副詞の書き換えが前置詞プラス関係代名詞になるならば、関係代名詞の前に前置詞を置いた形も関係副詞に出来るのではと思ったからです。 最初の関係代名詞の文はthe city が前置詞の目的語になっていてるのは分かります。 そして、二つ目の文はat the hospital で副詞になるから関係副詞になっているというのも分かりました。 なので２つは違うように見えましたが、どちらも似ていて違いが分からなくなりました。 やっぱりin which を whereにして、関係副詞の文に出来るんでしょうか? 出来ないならば理由を教えてください。 詳しい回答よろしくお願いします。
