Illegal aliens, Americans say, are taking our jobs away from us. They are increasing our taxes by filling welfare rolls. But are these complaints really justified? Tom Roach says no, they aren't. 最後のaren'tの後には何が省略されていますか？ 訳は「彼らはそうではない」と書かれていたので taking,increasingだと思うのですが。。 ただ、私はtheyがthese complaints、その後ろの省略は justifiedの方がいいかと思うのですが、どうですか？

Gです。 こんにちは!! お久しぶりですね（私が回答するのは） 役が間違っています。 確かに「代名詞」としてのTheyを考えれば複数の単語を選べばいいですね。Illegal aliens, Americans, taxes, rolls, complaintsなどがありますね。 しかし英語表現とはフィーリングなのですね。 つまり、なぜ、Tomは”No, they aren't."と言ったのかを考えれば、質問に答えていると考えるの自然ですよね。そし質問はと言えば、Are these compaints really justified?ですね。 だから、このtheyはthese complaintsをさし、No, these complaints aren't justifiedと言うのをやめて、簡単にNo, they aren't.とTom入ったわけです。 参考になりましたでしょうか。 分かりにくいところがありましたら締め切る前にまた書いてくださいね。

they aren't ( taking our jobs away from us + increasing our taxes by ... ). --- 不法移民は仕事を横取りしたり増税の原因を作って いるということに対して、Tom Roachが言うには、 彼らはそんなことはしていない、と言っているわけです。
