Gです。 ＞やはり「her」がMMMの事なんじゃない、と言っていました。つまり私も含め、3人(私以外はネイティブスピーカー）が思ったのは「また言ってるよ」という事で、「her」の事は気にもかけていなかったという事になりますし、聞いている側にとってこの際「誰でもいい」のかも！もちろんGさんがおっしゃるようにもしかしたらお母さんを指して本人は言っていたつもりかもしれません。確かに意味が変わってきますね。それならそうでなおさら「聞き流し」が日常のように会話中に行われているいい証拠ですね。もし「her」が重大な意味を持つとしたら絶対聞き返していたと思いますし、この質問の内容も「her」に特化したものになっていたと思います。 もしかしたら私だけかもしれませんね、herはmotherかも知れない、と言うのは。 でも、motherだと断言できるわけはない、と書いたのは分かってくれたようですね。 うれしいです。 意味が分からなかったら絶対に聞き返さなくてはならないなんてないことは英語でも日本語でも同じですね。 相手のことを思って聞き流すという言葉を人間関係の一部と見れば当然なことです。 これが出来なければ、言葉をTPOに合わせて使いこなすことが出来ない、と言う事になるわけです。 落語じゃあるまいし、ですね。 ＞。#9の回答の中で、今の私にとって一番ためになる記述だと思いました。日本語で話していたらどうだろう？「お母さんは僕は彼女の生涯の恋人だと冗談を言った」と聞いても「彼女の」の意味を詮索する人はいないでしょう。この会話の楽しさは別のところにあるのですから。 特に、 ＞日本語で話していたらどうだろう？ うれしいですよ。 これが私が4年間言ってきたことなんです。 英語だからきれいに、でも日本語だったらどんな表現でも良い、なんて矛盾したことはないわけですしね。 言葉であるからして、人間としての基本的フィーリングに似た物があり、言葉の使い方も似ているところが数多くあるわけです。 お母さんは冗談として言ったわけです。 ここでいろいろな意味に取れると言うことを知っていて、聞き返すことが必要なときと感じれば聞き返すでしょう。 しかし、冗談として言ったこの情況で聞き返すなんていうことは普通の人であればしないでしょう。 なぜってそんなしらけることをするような子供じゃないし、冗談としていっているお母さんの気持ちを汲み取ればするはずはないわけです。 それが日本語でも英語でもです。 jokeがなんで面白いのかを聞き返さないのは「その場で言った人に聞くべきだ」と言うルールの例外なのです。 英語を使いこなすための更なる一歩を進んだわけです。 人によっては「そんなことを聞いたらみっともない」と感じるからですね。 だから、聞き流しておいて後で誰かに聞く、と言う事はするかもしれませんね。 英語を言葉として使いこなせる、と言う事は、実際に英語をどのように使いきれているか、で分かることですね。 だから、こういうことを習うことで自分を向上できるわけです。 runbiniさんがいつか「出来ると号嗚する人」を追い抜くのは時間の問題だと言うことでもあります。 もう追い抜いているかもしれませんね。 ＜ｇ＞

再び回答をありがとうございます。書いた事に対してきちんとしたお返事を感謝します。 > もしかしたら私だけかもしれませんね、herはmotherかも知れない、と言うのは。 でも、motherだと断言できるわけはない、と書いたのは分かってくれたようですね。 うれしいです。 聞いてきましたよ！straight from the horse's mouth と言うのでしょうか？彼は「her」がお母さんのつもりで言っていたとの事でした。最初なぜ「（お母さんが自分も、と言ったのではないかと私は思いますが）」とおっしゃるのかわかりませんでした。確かにGさんだけでしたがさすがその通りでしたよ！たった一つ、「her」が誰を指すかがこの質問でそんなに重要だったのか、よくわかりません。 聞き流しについてはつまらない事で会話の流れを損なうな、という事ですよね？少なくとも私たちは英語でも日本語でも普段そんな事はしませんものね。英語の授業ではありませんし。 繰り返しになりますが「日本で、日本人が、日本語をどのように使っているのかをもっともっと知ることで、英語も同じように使われていているのだと実感してもらいたいのです。」は本当にいい言葉ですね！逆に、日本語を学ぶ人がいたとして、私をただ利用するために話していたら、そして自然な会話の腰を折ってしまったり、「正しい」日本語に固執しすぎてフィーリングが伝わって来なかったり、日本や日本語の事で知ったかぶりをしたり、「日本人は神だ」なんて先入観で話されたら、そんな人とは自然と会話したくなくなりますよね。
