While washing their clothes, Zero frankly confesses his story to Stanley. When Zero was a child, he had stole what he needed. He was not taught thieving was not good by his mother. One day, he wanted to change a pair of shoes, then he found an old shoes and he took it. Zero did not know whose shoes is. It is Clyde Livingston's shoes. He placed them on top of a parked car. Eventualy,Zero was arrested since he tried to steal a pair of new shoes next day.

In 1960 he came to Tokyo, in which city he has lived ever since. （ジーニアス） （説明：通例and the…の意味になるが、前後関係によりandのほかにbut, because, though, ifなどの意味になることもある） 2. I said nothing, which fact made her angry. （ジーニアス） 3. He may not know the fact, in which case he will be in danger. （ジーニアス） （質問１）上記、2.と3. の文章でwhoseが使えないのは、whoseは先行詞として、前文の一部（または全部）をさせないからだと思います。 ですが、なぜ、1.の文ではwhose cityにはならないでしょうか？ 4. Their ship was driven away to an island, whose name was unknown to them. 5. Their ship was driven away to one of the Shetland Islands, which name was unknown to them. （4.5.は両方、ロイヤル英文法） 4. の,whose nameは,but its nameで、5. の,which nameは,this nameと考えられる（ロイヤル） （質問２）そもそも、この説明の、「itsとthisの違い」が分からないのですが、どういうことでしょうか？高校生にも分かる説明でお願い致します。

We visited him the other day. 私の解答→He is the doctor whom we wisited the other day. 先行詞はthe doctorでよいのでしょうか？ 次の( )内に関係詞を入れて文を完成させよ。 The book the cover ( )blue is mine. 私はwhoseだとは思うのですが、この文の構造がよくわかりません。「カバーが青い本は私のものだ。」と何となく訳してみたものの、The book the coverと名詞が続いているのがどうしてなのかもよくわかりません。 どうぞ宜しくお願いします。

海外のニュースからの抜粋ですが、、 下記の If she's wearing a g-string ～ OTHER PEOPLE get? のところが、構文が理解できません。■ ～ ■ のところ。 最初の文はどこからどこまでがifがかかっているのでしょう。意味もつかめません。 教えていただければと思います。 The 15-year-old was wearing a black and gold skating suit but underneath her g-string was clearly visible. I for one am very concerned about this. ■ If she's wearing a g-string whose underwear is stocking up the school girl panty dispensers all over Japan? And whose underwear did I get? (2)The person who came here yesterday was a country girl whose name was Jane. ちょっと (2)は、まどろっこしい文にしましたが、（一番シンプルな文は、A girl named Jane came here. でいいんですよね。） 要は(1) 『～whose name is Jane ～』 と (2) 『～whose name was Jane～』が文の中で 同じ意味・状況を表すかを 確認したかったのです。 時制の一致で 現在形と過去形に別れますが、 厳密に、このあとJaneが改名するしない・・・などの複雑な状況を 考えなければ（これについては、いろいろ論争があるようですが、） おおよそ、同じ状況として考えていいと思っていいてよいのか、宜しくお願いいたします。

「彼は赤い髪をしたその少女が好きだった。」 これを He liked the girl whose hair is red. としたのですが。模範解答は He liked the girl whose hair was red. と be 動詞が過去形になっていました。 これは主節が過去形なので関係代名詞節の中も過去形にしなければならないということでしょうか。 解説をお願いします。
