「4人に1人」は"one out of four (men/girls/etc.)" 「~を支える」ならsupport one of four peopleなどでしょうか。

Japan has many social problems, and one of the greatest is the rapid increase in the number of old people. We know that more than one io four Japanese will be 65 years of age or older by 2025 and almost one in three by 2050. In 1996,fewer than one person in seven was a senior citizen. In the past, sons or the wives of sons, and daughters usually cared for their old parents. However, not many young people do this nowadays. It is difficult for young couples to manage even their nuclear families. So taking care of their old parents is too much for them, especially if their parents are physically weak and need constant care and help. Unfortunately, there are not enough nursing homes for old people and not enough home care workers to provide services for them. Although robots are now being developed to help ole people, those robots are not able to give as good care and attention as home care workers can. On the other hand, many ole people are able to work, and they want to have some kind of role in society, using their talents, skills, knowledge and experience. As the number of old people is quickly increasing, the Japanese government must take steps to help them lead a safe and comfortable life.

❶This fact makes us think about the meaning of eco-tours. (1)How old is Jomon Cedar considered to be? (2)Why did people in Yakushima have to offer boards of cedars as nengu (land tax) in the Edo period? (3)Why can't people touch or get close to Jomon Cedar? (4)It is though that Jomon Cedar was discovered 2000-4000 years age. (5)In the Edo period, people in Yakushima cut down cedars to grow rice. (6)Only Jomon Cedar was left uncut in the Edo period. 本文 The last picture is, as you all know, Jomon Cedar. It's one of the oldest and largest cedars in Yakushima. It was discovered in 1966. Can you imagine how old and how large it is? It is considered to be 2000-4000 years old. Some people say it is 7200 years old! It is 25.4 m in height and it is 5.2 m in diameter. Tomorrow we will look for this tree on the tour. In the Edo period, people in Yakushima began to cut down cedars. They had a poor rice crop because there was little land for growing rice there. As a result, they had to offer boards of cedars as nengu (land tax). Fortunately, some cedars over 1000 years old were left uncut then because they were not suitable for making boards. That's why we can still see them as well as Jomon Cedar! I'm very sorry to say that we can't touch or get close to Jomon Cedar. We can only look at it from a distance. That's because many tourists stepped on the roots and damaged the tree. ❶(This fact) makes us think about the meaning of eco-tours. That's all for the orientation. Do you have any questions?
