確認お願いします。
学校に大切な手紙を送りたいのですが、 ちゃんと届いたか確認の為にメールが欲しいと書きたいのですが、以下の文で大丈夫でしょか？ Would you please confirm with me by returen that you have received this letter.

だいたいいいんじゃないですか、No.4 さんの言うとおり、折り返しはby return でビジネス文で一般に使います。 簡単に書けば Please send me back your e-mail to confirm whether this e-mail arrived properly. くらいでしょうか。

#2です。 回答後、 confirmの使い方について疑問に思うところがあったので確認しました。 アルクのサイトで確認したところ confirm with → ～に確認する とあったのですが オックスフォード英英辞典にはそのような用例はありませんでした。 confirm→確認する と覚えていたのですが、 confirm→provide evidenceなのですね。 確認→たしかめる(正しいか尋ねる？！) confirm→それが正しいということを証明する証拠を与える それで、confirm with 人というのが英英辞典にのってなかったのは、結局そのような熟語があるわけではなくて、単純にwith 人で「～に」という意味を付加しているだけなのですね。 文の中心は confirm that ～ 「～ということが正しいという証拠をあたえる」 で、sakuraさんの書いた文章は(かたい訳ですが・・・) この手紙を受け取ったことを証明する証拠を返事として私に与えてください。 となるのでばっちりだということになります。 勉強不足ですみませんでした。 あ、returnと最後を？にするのを忘れないでくださいね。 なんかひとりよがりになってたらごめんなさい。 ほんと、このサイトは勉強させられます(ーー;)

"by return" はビジネス・メールでごく普通に使われています．（とくにアメリカ） 「折り返しに」，という意味ですから問題ありません． まどわされないように．

私はあまり英語ができないのでこの文章は本などで調べたのですが、 by returnは普通に使われているみたいでよかったです。

まず、上記の文章ですが、文末は?が適当ではないでしょうか。また、by+原型には違和感を感じます。by+現在分詞が普通ではないでしょうか。（そのような用法があるのならすみません。） 私なら、 Would you send me back an e-mail so that I want to comfirm whether you receive this letter or not? とするでしょうか・・・。

とりあえずreturen←をreturnにしましょう。 ん～、これだとメールくださいというのが by returnの部分だけですよね？ このメールを受け取ったら確認してください、返事として・・・。というような内容の文章に感じてしまうのですが・・・。 メールがほしい←ここを中心に書いて、 Would you give me a mail as a confirmation if you got this mail? なんていかがですか？
