ハリーがダーズリーの家で読んでいる新聞の記事の一文に関してです。
"Dumbledore’s legions of admirers, meanwhile, may well be trembling at what is soon to emerge about their hero."
この文の”what is soon to emerge about their hero”の部分の意味がとれません。
どのように解釈すればよいのでしょうか？
教えてください。よろしくお願いします。

私は英語が非常に苦手なのですが独学で勉強中です。
早速なのですが
『check in baggage』と『baggage to check in』の
ニュアンスの違いを教えて頂きたいのです。
自分で調べてみたところ
どちらも『預かり荷物』という意味のようですが
『預かり荷物』という日本語から英語を調べると
『check in baggage』のみで『baggage to check in』とは出てきませんでした。
私の勉強しているテキストの例文では
【Passengers with baggage to check in should wait in line.】
（預け荷物のある乗客は一列に並んで待たなくてはならない）
というものなのですが
これを
【Passengers with check in baggage should wait in line.】
に変えると
文法的におかしかったり
ニュアンスが変わったり
意味が伝わらなかったりしますか？
英語に詳しい方、また英語は得意だよという方、
是非ご回答お願いします。

この文に違和感があるのですが、僕だけですか?
Would have been hereー過去 なのにnowであって意味わかりません。
He would be here now if his plane had arrived on time.
ではないんのでしょうか?

She always stayed at a hotel.
But she living her home stay family's house.
She living in a foreign country for the first time now.

英語の授業の予習をしていて、ある英語の文章をどう訳したらいいのかわからなくなってしまい、
質問しました。その文章は
He had once danced on a wire between the steeples of Notre Dame Cathedral above his amazed home city,Paris.（Notre Dame Cathedral ノートルダム寺院）
です。どうかよろしくお願いします。
英訳の問題です。
「私には宿題が一つもなかったが、弟にはいっぱい宿題があった。」
これを
I had no homework,but my brother had much homework.
としたのですが、
模範解答は
I had no homework,but my brother had a lot of homework.
となっていました。
この場合 much ではダメでしょうか。お願いします。
英語の文法でつまずいています。
日本の英語の授業で、関係代名詞の主格は基本的に省略できないと習いました。
が、Betty .S.Azarの著書のアメリカの口語文法の教科書の中で、形容詞節から形容詞句への書き換えの際、be動詞がない形容詞節の関係代名詞が省略できる場合があると書いてありました。
例文が、
●Clause: English has an alphabet that consists of 26 letters.
Phrase: English has an alphabet consisting of 26 letters.
●Clause: Anyone who wants to come with us is welcome.
Phrase: Anyone wanting to come with us is welcome.
説明文は、If there is no be form of a verb in the adjective clause, it is sometimes possible to omit the subject pronoun and change the verb to its -ing for as in above sentences.
となってます。どのような時は省略可能なのか、不可能なのかで混乱してしまいました。他に省略可能な例文と、分かりやすい説明をしていただけますか？
英文法はあまり深く考えても、前に進まないことは承知なのですか、、、、。日本の参考書には、主格は省略不可能としか書いていません、、、。

このotherwiseですが、この本にはotherwise=if...notなので、、
if we didn't turn awayの代用だと書かれています。
しかしその場合、mightの後ろのhaveの時制がおかしくならないでしょうか？

we以下は関係詞節ですので文に戻します。
We might have had pleasure if we didn't turn away from the picture.
この訳は「私たちがその写真から目を背けなければ喜びを感じたかも知れない」
となりますが、仮定法だと考えると、時制がおかしくなりませんか？
pleasure we might otherwise have "had"
上に書いたことを考慮すると、haveのうしろのhadは必要ないのではないと
思います。
もしhadを書かなければ、
pleasure we might otherwise have
→We might have pleasure if we didn't turn away from the picture.
と流れがよくなります。
"had"が必要な理由が分かる方いらっしゃいますか？
Principles of neuronal developmentの Counting Cells p132-133を読みました。
(1) It might seem a straightforward matter to assess by accurate cell counts the degree of neuronal degeneration during the development of a particular region of the nervous system. However, this information is actually quite hard to come by, and a number of acrimonious disputes about neuronal death have revolved around methodology.

と訳してみましたがどういうことを言ってるのでしょうか。
ちなみにこの文章は細胞数を数えるには4つの問題が生じる。１、若い細胞はグリアと見分けがつかない。２、細胞の数は明瞭な領域もしくは場所に関連していなければならない。３、組織切片の数え方には注意が必要である。４、細胞の増殖と細胞死が数えている最中にも起こっておりそれは同じ割合では起こっていないために数え方が困難である。
というものなのですがこの２番目の
細胞の数は明瞭な領域に関連していなければならない。という文章の後にCounting cells in と続きます。
(3)but this method suffers from the assumption that developing cells take up the marker equally well at different developmental stages and that diffusion of the marker is equally restricted in small and large targets.
しかしこの方法は異なる発生段階において発生中の細胞も等しくマーカーを得る(染色される)と考えられ、マーカーの拡散はどのような標的においても等しく制限されてしまう。
(4)Counting neurons in sections requires correction for "double counting", that is for counts of the same cell in two or more adjacent sections.
3つめの問題で組織の切片中で数えられた細胞数はそれ自体に問題があるという文章に上記の文章が続きます。

requires correction for～～はここでは 二倍に数えてしまっているから直さないといけない。
という文章なのでしょうかそれとも後述をみると
同じ細胞を数えてしまうために二重カウントが必要といっているのでしょうか。
意味の違いで真逆の結果になってしまうためにここの丁寧な訳と意図が知りたいです。

この説明は理解できます。
例えば、
He got up early in the morning.
について、文型はSVだと理解しています。
early in the morningは修飾語だと理解しているの
ですが、この認識は正しいでしょうか？
また、付加語は第一、第二、第三文型に存在するとあるのですが、
第四、第五文型には存在しないのでしょうか？

英語の勉強をしているものですが、なんでもかんでも直訳ばかりしてしまい短い文章もどう訳していいか分からず路頭に迷っている者です。。。
"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."
という言葉がありますが、"you can until you know better."の部分ですが、ここをどう訳せばいいか分かりません。。
「あなたはよく知っているまではできる」という訳し方をしまい、何を言っているのか分かりません。
どんな訳になるのでしょうか。
結果、この上記の英文はどんな訳になるのかも教えてください。
現在勉強している和文英訳の本で疑問点があります。
「半時間前」というのは
(1) half an hour ago
という訳が解答になっていました。
一方で、「半年前程度」というのは
(2) in half year or so
という解答になっていました。
halfの後にaがいる/いらないというのがなにか決まりであるのでしょうか?
googleなどで探しても、half a yearという文章も見られ、(2)の解答は誤植なのでしょうか?
先日という意味で the other day といいますが、たしか the other というのは、２つあるうちのもう片方という意味ですよね？ なにかが２つあって、１つ目は one 残りの１つが the other と習いました。
それでは、the other day の場合、あと１つの日というのはいつのことなのですか？
また、the other day の意味で、another day ということはできませんか？
