お礼コメント」を拝見しました。（おかげで、" EUREKA! "です。） ＞一番の意味は「理解」二番の意味は「使う」 これですね！ これと、最初の、 ＞「※ followed = 理解・遵守・使う という意味があります。」 を加味して考えて、私の " EUREKA! " に至りました（＝ほとんど最初に戻る）。 ＞＞This fundamental principle isn't widely followed in Japan. ⇒⇒この基本原則は、日本では広く遵守されてはいない。 ＊「遵守」は、現代語風に「順守」と書くこともあります。 以上、再伸まで。

あ、失礼しました。 考え直してみましたら、「準用」「遵用」というのがありました。 「準用」：標準として適用する。 「遵用」：従い、用いる。踏襲する。 これを使うと次のようになりますが、いかがでしょうか。 ⇒⇒⇒この基本原則は、日本では広く準用／遵用されてはいない。 ＊個人的には「準用」の方がお勧めです。しかも、「遵用」はあまり一般的ではありません。

but that doesn't mean 'understood' 理解 - that means 'comply' or 'obey'. You know I'm thinking, there just isn't a word in Japanese that has the same meaning. I'll think about changing the English, or I'll just use 理解 - I'm going to sleep on this. EUREKA! - this is okay but if you say, "Eureka! I've got it." It would even sound better. thanks again, :o)
