http://www.nj.com/yankees/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-2/1088147434105160.xml この記事にある Life as a ........という書き出しはCharles Dickensの何という作品からきているのでしょうか？ "Life As A House"でしょうか？ あるいは、特に作品からというわけではなく、彼の文体か何かなのでしょうか？ ディケンズ風だと、何故書き出しが"Life as a ........"となるのでしょうか？ 何方か英文学に詳しい方ご教示よろしくお願いします。

#1です。 Tale of Two Cities(二都物語)の第一章をご覧ください。ここのコントラスト手法をまねているのだと思います。 http://www.bibliomania.com/2/-/frameset.html ちなみに、他のディケンズ作品を調べましたが、"life as..."で始まる有名な句は見つかりませんでした。

記事を読みました。 文章から推測すると、多分「二都物語」ではないかと思います。ヤンキースとメッツの対照の仕方がディケンズを思い起こします。ただ、"life as a..."という書き方だったかは思い出せません。

小説であるか否かの区切り。 簡単に教えてください。 小説って、どれが小説で、どれがそれ以外のものになるでしょう。 小説ってnovelで、純文学や大衆文学がそれですよね。 村上春樹の作品は小説。 じゃあ、ライトノベルは小説ですか？ ちなみに私は、ケータイ小説が小説の名を語っているのが許せません。 文体が許せないっていうか、あんな軽いものが小説なのでしょうか？ ケータイ小説は全く読まないし、ライトノベルもあまり興味がないので。 具体的な作者名は出てきませんが。 どちらにせよ「あたしユキちゃん。１７歳の高校生☆」みたいな書きだしの物が村上春樹（そこまで行かなくても綿矢りさでもいいです）と同じ土俵に立てるとは到底思えません。 じゃあ、小説ってなんですか？ ウィキペディアは見ましたが、定義までは書いてありませんでした。 独り語りというか、自分語りというか、自分だけの世界というか、独り言のように書かれているのがケータイ小説だと思うのですが。 湊かなえさんの告白は、特に第一章、完全に森口先生の語りしか書かれてませんが、あれは小説です。 何が小説でケータイ小説はどこが小説じゃなくてライトノベルはどうなるのか教えてください。

インターネットで検索して、見つからなかったので、 お聞きしたいと思い、質問させていただきました。 チャールズ・ディケンズの「Hard Times」の小説の日本語訳を 探しています。日本語だと「困難な時代」と翻訳されたりしています。 映画があるのはわかったのですが、本屋さんなどで日本語訳を 売っているのでしょうか？ また、文学作品を研究するにあたって、テーマを決めるには、 小説の時代と、日本の時代を比較するなど、何かと何かを比較 したりするとただ調べるだけよりは良いのでしょうか？ 初歩的な質問で、申し訳ありません。
