たびたびですが教えて下さい。 下記は1995年にクリントン政権下で、収支均衡を義務付ける憲法修正案が上院で可決されなかった事に触れて書かれている文章です。 One example is the run on the dollar in the spring of 1995, which forced President Clinton to abandon his earlier spending plans and embrace a balanced buget. The run was triggered by the failure of the Republican majority in the Senate to pass a constitutional amendment calling for a balanced budget. この文中の "the run on the dollar" と 2文目の"The run"は 同じ事を指すと思われます。 "run"は和訳では 取り付け という訳がありますが、この場合「ドルの取り付け」と訳してよいのでしょうか、それとも「ドルの暴落」なのでしょうか。 クリントン政権の財政政策について調べてはいるのですが、なかなかこの事を示唆するような資料が見つかりません。 どなたかご存知の方、よろしくお願いします。

"run on the bank"あるいは"bank run"ならば、 和訳としては「〔銀行への〕取り付け〔騒ぎ〕」 （〔〕内は省略可）となります。 "run on the dollar"なら「ドルへの取り付け 〔騒ぎ〕」、"currency run"なら「通貨への取り付け 〔騒ぎ〕」という風にも訳せそうですが、これらに対する 日本語の定訳はないように思います。 「銀行への取り付け」は、ある銀行が一時に多数人の 信認を失って、預金者が預金の引き出しに殺到すること を言いますが、「ドルへの取り付け」も同様に、ドル への信認が一時に失われ、ドルを他国通貨へ交換しようと 人々が殺到する状況を言うようです。 「ドルからの逃避」が極端に集中しておこる状況です から、当然、通貨当局が外国為替市場に介入しなければ （あるいは介入したとしても）、ドルの暴落を招くことになる でしょう。
