具体的には when he got to Britain です。 一方、その got という過去の時点と同じ時点で、 found / was / was painted という過去。

the country in the middle of the map was Britain and that it, too, was painted redの部分は過去完了形になふのではないですか。

Perhaps one of the reasons why so many are attracted to this statue after nearly 1300 years is that it gives people a sense of healing which is much needed in an age of uncertainty. 1. Teddy wrote in a letter to Kaka that Kaka was the best friend he had ever had. 2.の文 after nearly 1300 years is that it gives people...

1, He was reminded that he was in a foreign country. =He was reminded of being in a foreign country. 2, I am sure that you will get well soon. =I am sure of your getting well soon. 。。 3, He complains that the room is dirty. =He complains of the room being dirty. 4, He informed me that she had arrived. =He informed me of her havingarrived.

But according to some native American tribes, hunters killed a great bear in the sky. Its blood turned some leaves red, and while the hunters cooked it in a pot, its fat turned some leaves yellow. I love that story, but what I love, too, about fall and the fall foliage is it bitter sweet quality. There's something melancholy about the beautiful leaves falling from the trees. You know that song, "Autumn in New York." That sums it up for me, that mingling of love and pain. That sums it up for me, that mingling of love and pain. that

So it isthat the country is getting less and less peaceful , at least on sunny week-ends in the warm season of the year. The towns are emptied, and the country hums with acitvity, particularly around main roads and beauty spots. In the past this was not the case. For although the Englishman had always been a lover of the country, it is only in recent times that he has had the leisure with a longer week-end and the means with a family car to satisfy his love. But now such is the intersity with which he is pursuing his love , that the is killing the country with too much kindness. The result is only to transfer the noise and bustle of the town to the country every week-end.

But it had also been suggested by the book that he had just taken out of the drawer. it was a peculiarly beautiful book. its smooth creamy paper, a little yellowed by age, was of a kind that had not been manufactured for at least forty years past. He could guess, however, that the book was much older than that. He had seen it lying in the window of a frowzy little junk-shop in a slummy quarter of the town ( just what quarter he did not now remember ) and had been stricken immediately by an overwhelming desire to possess it. party members were supposed not to go into ordinary shops ( ‘dealing on the free market ’, it was called), but the rule was not strictly kept, because there were various things such as shoelaces and razor blades which it was impossible to get hold of in any other way. He had given a quick glance up and down the street and then had slipped inside and bought the book for two dollars fifty. At the time he was not conscious of wanting it for any particular purpose He had carried it guiltily home in his briefcase. Even with nothing written in it, it was a com-promising possession

  • It is not until ...that~

It is not until...that~の構文は「... It was not until he had been away from home for many days that he found how he loved his father and mother. It is not until の所ですが、意味上というか構文上というか、 頭の中で区切るとしたら、It is notで区切るのが正しいのか、It is not until で区切るのが正しいのか(つまり、notとuntilは切り離せない)どちらがいいのでしょうか?
