新聞記事の和訳

もっともやりたくないことは，業界をよりよい方向にしても （食べ物のゴミを回収して堆肥化するなど再利用して環境にやさしくする） その結果，パイプラインに過度に負担を与えて，レストラン側にとって 料金の値上げや，（結果的に）売上が減少する羽目になることだ。 前半の change the industry for the better というのはテーマになっている， 食べ物のゴミのリサイクルをし，環境にやさしい方向へ向かうこと。 pickup は，前の方では「ゴミの回収」という意味合いで使っていますが， ここの部分は売上の向上の意味に使っていると思います。
