基本的な捉えはいいと思うのですが、文脈的に少し調整しました。 またフセインは、湾岸地域への干渉を傍若無人なヤンキー帝国主義の現れの１つと印象付けることで、反米主義という、いつもの大きな力を利用しようとした。 TIMEですから、ここは　cast　A　as　B　は「AにBの役を与える」という持って回った表現の方だろうと思います。
