先程ここで質問させてもらい、納得できる答えをもらいベストアンサーを選んだのですが 後で疑問に思ったことがあり、いくら調べてもわからなかったので質問させてもらいます。 何度も何度も本当に申し訳ございません、今回だけは許してもらえると幸いです。 The ideas were the cause of the early,enormous success of this revolution. という英文があり、訳は「このような考えはこの革命の初めのうちは大成功を収めた」となっております。 先程した質問で頂いた回答は「the early,enormous success of this revolution.」 その連続で１つの名詞を形成していると教えて頂きました。 ならなぜカンマがthe earlyあとに存在するのでしょうか？ このカンマのせいで、どうしても「of the early」がthe causeにかかっているように思えてなりません。 ですが「early」は副詞ですよね？副詞は名詞以外にかかるものという定義で習いました。 そうなるとこのearlyはwereにかかるんじゃないのか？と思えてきます なら訳は「このような考えは初めは原因だった、この革命が大成功を収める」とならないですか？ 「of the early」のように 前置詞＋the＋副詞のような形で形容詞として扱うみたいなルールがあるのでしょうか？

何度も分けて質問をして申し訳ございません。 今後は一日の終わりに疑問をまとめて質問しようと思います。 土日意外なら学校で聞けるのですが、どうしても土日になると聞けません。 ですのでここで質問させてもらってます、よろしくお願いします 分からないことは2つです。 These ideas were the cause of the early,enormous successful of this revolution. 訳「このような考えはこの革命の初めのうちは大成功を収めた」となっていました。 自分なりの訳は↓になるのですが、合っているのでしょうか？ 「このような考えは初めのうちは原因だった、この革命が大成功を収める」 もう一つは These chemicals have other effects that are expensive in the long run 訳「こうした化学薬品には結局は高く付く他の影響がある」となっていました。 この文のthatの先行詞はThese chemicals になっている気がします 基本的にthatの前にある名詞が先行詞になるんじゃないんでしょうか？ other effectsが先行詞になれないとい理由が何かあるんでしょうか？
