>Professor Sternberg found that best way to reach practical intelligence is to ask successful pepople to relate examples of crucial incidents at work where they solved problems demonstrating skills they had learnt while doing their jobs.

they solved problems →彼らは問題を解決した(どんな問題?) demonstrating skills they had learnt →これまで学んできたスキルを明示するという問題 demonstrating skills they had learnt これを to demonstrate their skills と読み替えるとわかりやすいんじゃね?

they (S) solved (V) problems (O) >>又はdemonstrating skillsがproblemsをsolvedするのか solve の主語は they で、successful people を指します。

For it is a mistake to suppose that, because modern architects are particularly concerned to relate buildings more closely to the needs they have to serve, they are only interested in the practical side of architecture. [For it is a mistake to suppose that S V] V

How did they do this? The teams that made the most money didn't use the five dollars at all. They realized that focusing on the money actually created boundaries to their imagination. They understood that five dollars is essentially nothing and decided to reinterpret the problem. They asked themselves, "What can we do to make money if we start with absolutely nothing?" They ramped up their observation skills, tapped into their talents, and unlocked their creativity to identify problems in their midst–problems they might have experienced or noticed others experiencing–problems they might have seen before but had never thought to solve. These problems were annnoying but not necessarily at the forefront of anyone's mind. By unearthing these problems and then working to solve them, the winning teams brought in over 600 dollars, and the average return on the five-dollar investment was 4,000 percent! If you take into account that many of the teams didn't use the funds at all, then their financial returns were infinite.

As Hume’s example indicates, in small enough groups they may be solved by bringing everyone affected to an understanding of what they need to do, an approach we can call self-governance (as distinguished from government).

These days, there are many problems which are concerned with work. I think that many people who work everyday seem to be very tired. I once read in the news paper that some people died because they worked too hard though their physical strength was not so strong. I think that Japanese people are tend to make efforts to achive something they have to do although it is not always the case, so if there are more free time for workers, these problems could be solved. I think that there are two merit in a long vacation. First, needless to say, they can have more time for rest. Secondly, they can develop their skills using a long vacation. Thus, I agree that Japanese need longer vacation and this will make it possible for workers to feel more happier.

What makes coordination difficult? Coordination problems occur when we want something that we can’t achieve on our own, so we have to get help from others to achieve it. Coordination problems are political problems, as the success or failure to solve them affects who gets what and when, but they can be solved in a variety of ways. 恐らくこのあたりかな~と思うのですが、 回答は、「It become difficult when we want something that we can't achieve on our own」などでいいでしょうか?

Another problem is that the finding was based on a conception of “intelligence” that most developmental psychologists now reject. Specifically, the finding was from studies in which a single global IQ score was the only measure of a person’s intelligence. It is now known that intelligence is not a single unitary trait, but rather consists of several distinct and relatively independent skills or abilities, such as verbal fluency and numerical ability. The fact that these abilities are relatively independent suggests that they should not be limped together into one global score. Another reason not to combine them is that they seem to depend to different degrees on heredity. Finally, and of most importance to developmental psychologists, different abilities exhibit different patterns of change through the life span.

First-born Children and only childlen First-born and only children are alike in some ways. First-born children receive all of their parents' attention until a new child is born. Only children receive this attention all through their lives. Both kinds of children have close relationships with their parents and try to make them happy. First-born children try hard to be successful, and they often get professional jobs. Only children also try to be perfect at everything. They are usually responsible and reliable. Sometimes, however, they become selfish.
