what I think では意味をなしません。 すなわち，I think it とか，I think him では意味をなさないのです。 I think about it なら正しい。 あるいは I think it is ～のように think の後に文を持ってくるのは正しい。 I think it is a better explanation の it が what に変わって前に出たのが what I think is a better explanation です。 I think it が what I think ではありません。

丁寧に説明して頂き有難うございます。 森沢洋介さんという人のテキスト本に、次のような文が載っていました。 What they did was right. 彼らがした事は正しかった。 What she saw there was surprising. 彼女がそこで見たのは驚くべきものだった。 What I think is a better explanation. も、what+名詞+動詞+be動詞+名詞(句) の構文で、 私が考えるものはもっと良い説明だ。 と訳せると思いました。 その前に、"Here's" があったので、分からなくなってしまいました。 (2)の前後の文は、 The alcohol is being sold at less than cost price by supermarkets, but the price of tobacco remains unaffected. But low prices of alcohol leads which leads to a lot of trouble. It is going to cause many social and health problems in the near future. です。 (2)の文は言いたい事は分かるので軽く読み流してしまえばいいんでしょうけど、 何故か気になって質問しました。

(1) "Here's ～. で「ここに～がある」という意味です。 what I think is a better explanation では文にはなっていません。 the thing which (I think) is a better explanation 「私がよりよい説明だと思う物」という「もの」でまとまっています。 一般的には I think をかっこにくくってとばすように説明されます。 （私はこの説明は好きではありませんが） 主格の which が is とつながっています。 「ここに，私がよりよい説明と思うものがあります」 というのが直訳です。 (2) 正しい英文とは思えません。 少なくとも，low prices ～が主語で leads がおかしい。

やはり文として変なのですか? 2つとも、英語圏の人(アメリカ、イギリス)の文なのですが? 言いたい事は分かりますが、文としてどう理解すれば良いのか分かりませんでした。 有難うございました。

(1)このwhatはwhat以下を名詞節にまとめ、this is の補語になっている。 (2)また、whatはI think it is （something)、とsomethingを含意している (3)この文章は、This is what I think (that) it is (something)になる 直訳すると…… 「これはthis、それが何かit is somethingであると私が考えていることだwhat I think」 私は、以上のように解釈しているのですが、正しいでしょうか？ 違うようなら、詳しく教えていただきたいと思います。 よろしくお願いします。

- この2つの文を関係詞を使って一つでまとめたいのですが
・You can see from here the roof of a black building. ・What is that building? この二つの文を関係詞を用いて一文にまとめたいのですが、疑問文にするにあたり躓いています。 わからないので、根拠もなくなんとなく3通り考えてみたものの 1. What is that black building whose roof of black you can see from here? →whose roof of black (which) you can see from here って事で有リ？ 2. What is that black building of which roof you can see from here? →which roofじゃ、「どの屋根」の意味になるから違うだろうな… 3. What is that black building the roof of which you can see from here? →じゃあ roof をof which の前に出したらどうだろう でも What is that black building で文章が出来上がってるので、この後に続く the roof of which～がどうも納得いかない いや、この the roof of which～は building を修飾しているから有リかもしれない とあやふやなまま試行錯誤しています。 考えた3つの文章の中に答えがあるかないかもわかりません。 この二つの文を一つにまとめる手順がわかる方、ご教示願えませんでしょうか。 宜しくお願い致します。

いつも大変お世話になっております。 下記の英文の文法が理解できません。どなたかご教授いただければ大変助かります。 ～,if you'd like to talk it over and pursue what we think is an area of enormous untapped potential of our firm. 上記の文で、 pursue=V what以下＝Oだと思うのですが、 whatはwe think のOにもなっているし、 what we think はis のSにもなりますよね？この理解であっていますか？ whatって３つも役割を担うことができるのですか？ この文に違和感を感じています。 教えていただければ大変助かります。
