＞ It can rain なら大丈夫ですか？ 「may」にも「can」にも「推量」の意味があります。ただし、「may」が周囲の状況から「推量」できることを表すのに対して「can」は論理的に考えて「推量」できることを表します。 お尋ねの英文では、「空が暗くなっている」状況から「今にも雨が降るかもしれない。」と判断していると考えられますので、「may」が良いでしょう。 「can」を用いると「（現実にどうなるかは別にして、頭の中でいろいろと考えた結果、理論上）雨が降ることもあり得る。」という感じになってしまいます。 「be able to」は「可能」を表す場合には「can」と同じ意味を持ちますが、「推量」の意味はありませんのでここで正解になることはあり得ません。 ご参考になれば・・・。

英語のやり直しを最近始め、子供が使っていた中学生用のテキストを使っています。そこで It will rain. と It is going to rain. の違いで迷っています。 雨雲がかかっていてもう雨が降るのが確実なようだと be going to を使い、はっきりしない時は、willを使うということでした。 ところが、ネイテイブの方の著書の中では will を使ったら確実に降るという全く逆のことが書いてありました。 降るかも、と言う時は might を使う。とも書いてありました。be going to については記述がありませんでした。 ネイテイブの方が正しいとは思うのですが、どういうことなのでしょうか？

お返事が遅くなってしまいすみません！ ＞ 「may」が周囲の状況から「推量」できることを表すのに対して「can」は論理的に考えて「推量」できることを表します。 ＞ 「be able to」は「可能」を表す場合には「can」と同じ意味を持ちますが、「推量」の意味はありませんのでここで正解になることはあり得ません。 be able to は可能の意味しかなく、can には可能のほかに推量の意味もあるってことなんですね・・ だけど、can より may のほうが、周囲の状況から「推量」できるからぴったりというかんじでよかったでしょうか。 いろいろよくわかりました。 ありがとうございました☆
