法律系の翻訳
アメリカ、カリフォルニア州の結婚証明書の翻訳をしています。 以下の文の訳し方について困っていますので、どなたか教えていただけませんでしょうか。 We acknowledge receipt of the information required by family code section 358 and hereby apply for a license and certificate of marriage. ↓ 「ファミリーコード358条によって求められる情報の受領を理解し、よって結婚許可と証明書を申し込みます」 というような感じだと思いますが、 特に分からないのが、recieptとファミリーコード(家庭条約??)です。 情報を受け取るのは私達夫婦ではなく、役所だと思うのですが・・・?? 宜しくお願いします。

family code とは、「家族法」といったところです。固有名詞ですから、普通の文では Family Code と大文字で書きます。 section は、「条」といったところで、ここでは第358条の意味。 receipt はここでは、acknowledge receipt of と成句のようなもので「・・・を受領したことを確認します」といったところです。 カルフォルニア州では、いわゆる「婚姻届」はLICENSE AND CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE という書類に結婚した二人が署名して提出するようですが、貴殿の言われている文言は、その書類のどこかに二人（We ... )がサインするところがあり、そこに書かれている文言でしょう（多分、全て大文字で表記されており（このような書類でよくあり）、それで提示文で、Family Code と大文字にするのを忘れられたのでしょう））。 「我々は、（加州）家族法第358条に規定されている情報の受領を確認し、婚姻許可・証明書」を申請します。」

California Family Code Section 358は、こちら http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cacodes/fam/350-360.html “information required”というのは、State Department of Public Healthのパンフレットのことで、遺伝病やAIDSのことや、結婚に伴う姓の変更に関することなどが説明されているようです。

We acknowledge receipt of the information required by family code section 358 and hereby apply for a license and certificate of marriage. 予め印刷された貴方(が書く様に指示された)の申請書式の様ですね。 直訳 私達はファミリーコード358で要求された情報を受領したことをお知らせします、ここに婚姻証明書とライセンスを申請致します。 意訳 貴機関よりファミリーコード358で要求された書類を受け取りました、ここに当該婚姻証明書の発行と関係ライセンス(の発行)を申請申し上げます。 family code 358 に就きましては、分かりませんが、これ以上貴方の方で何か書類を準備・作成する必要はないのでは無いでしょうか?書類申請は無事受領され、貴方の申請手続きを待つだけと云う状態の様です。

有難うございました。はじめに記入した書類(多分この時点ではライセンス)を第三者からのサインをもらい、再度役所に提出したものでした。
